  • What players do we need?

This is my little shopping list of players I think we need to complete our squad.

RB - Ned is going to play there and Young is unlikely to feature, we need cover. Dyer isn't the solution.

CB - we've got three, four if you count Connolly, which is a risk.

LB/LM - depending where Traore is going to play, we need one or the other.

CM - Barton suspended, Faurlin unfit, Derry on his last legs. It's been suggested Park could play there but he's spent his career playing RM.

CF - we've got three, four if you include Bothroyd, which I don't.

    Outfield players split should be:

    9x defenders, 9x midfielders, 4x forwards.

Three defenders, one midfielder, and one striker needed I reckon.

Only a CB and maybe a tough tackling midfield as we dont know when Ale is going to return. 2 solid signings will be more than enough IMO; Obviously could go through the team and improve everywhere, but only 2 needed properly IMO.

When you look at what we've got like that is confirms that despite plenty of activity we are still lacking. The defence hasn't really altered (Fabio aside) and still looks vulnerable to me. MF/Wings also light. We still need at least 3 IMO.

Fabio can play left and right back meaning we have 2 full backs for both sides which is fine. Desperately need another CB, possibly a winger, possibly a centre mid and maybe another striker (depending on the formation we play, if 1 up front then i think we're fine)

Ok, Young leaves, which is looking likely, and Ned gets injured, who's going to play RB?

Not sure I'd want to go into the new season with only three full backs, Traore, Fabio, and Ned.

We don't need any players, we could start the season tomorrow fine, but a centre back would be handed & I do think Ki will be very good
                Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                And many more mistakes

Fabio, and Traore can go LB.

                      Here's the defence:

                      RB - Young/Onouha

                      CB - Ferdinand/Nelsen/Hill

                      LB - Traore/Fabio

                      Options - Dyer and Connolly

Young now likely to leave after being left off the Asia tour.

It's a squad game these days. Two for each position and an extra keeper. The other two places usually go to a defender and midfielder.

I remain to be convinced that we don't need at least two more defenders, assuming Young leaves.

RB concerns me I rate Danny Simpson personally, and think we should make a move for him. I think Ned will be fine alongside Hill or Nelsen, so think CB is pretty much sorted.

If we did get Bellamy in, I think we'd be sorted. Another CM couldn't hurt though.

Duno whether he just needed to gel with his new teammates or what, but when he first game to us and played CB Nedum was very shakey, looks alot more steardy RB, i like him there tbh. Cant disagree about Simpson though, he's a better player IMO.

Definitely a C/B and if Bellamy came in i would be very happy, seems there looking for a defensive midfielder to, with there tracking of Wanyama.

We have 4 forwards in Cisse, Zamora, HH and AJ. Agree about the other 2 defenders and 1 midfielder (winger/central depending on where park plays).

With Young as good as gone we may need 3 more defenders in rather than 2.
