John Terry racism trial: profile of the Chelsea captain

As a person John Terry is too extreme a personality to be universally liked, but as a defender and a captain he can only be admired.

not guilty doesn't necessarily mean innocent. it means that the case wasn't proven beyond reasonable doubt - from what i understand of the case, there is also reasonable doubt on terry's account (imo very fishy that the defence seemed to have at least 3 different scenarios - that anton had accused terry of saying b-c, that terry had somehow misheard the word 'bridge' or that terry had heard someone from the crowd saying b-c and thought it was anton).

interested to see what the fa does. i think the suarez case ignored whether there was intent to offend by suarez and focussed on whether the terms used could be interpreted as racially offensive. given that terry has admitted to saying f-b-c, it's difficult to interpret this as not racially offensive.

preposterous on several levels but then that's the law for you. people get off for speeding and serious crimes all of the time on minor technicalities, even though they bang to rights did it. ****ing joke in bad taste.

So that means you can now call all black players "you f** b** c**" and get away with it? I thought they were trying to stamp out the use of someone's colour in football, I think this will only make it worse.

Although having said that, Ferdinand never complained.

Matty - if you called someone a name and it was "caught" on CCTV it would not even get to court. Get a grip.

The problem is, it should have been dealt with by the FA and never got to court.

HOW MANY MORE TIMES DO YOU HAVE TO BE TOLD!

This was reported by a member of the public to the Police. Not Anton to the FA - so the FA had nothing to do with it.

So why are they now holding an enquiry?

Because it happened at a football match, which the FA is the controlling body of.

                            Not the sharpest are you?!

Can we merge all the terry threads and just ignore it please. Time for us to move on and forget this terrible decision.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.
