  • Jermain Defoe

Not been linked or anything but interestingly he's not in Spurs team photo according to people on twitter. He's 3/1 to join QPR. I'd love it if we signed him.

Would be really pleased if he joined

At least it would make up for getting Johnson who can sit on the bench for the season and play in case we have injuries

It doesn't take much money for odds to change etc ...BUT Reading are favourites to sign him ?????

Can't see him wanting to go there ....Would love him at LR (being greedy now I know ) but I'd have thought Foolham or Spam if not us

Is it wrong of me to say I don't want him? I mean we've got alot of midfielders & should use 4-2-3-1 or it's a waste of a good squad
              Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
              And many more mistakes

Surely we would be a more attractive option for him

Agree with the formation, but we need a nippy little striker like Defoe. He's better than Zamora and Johnson IMO. Plus formations change during the course of a game and we may well have 2 up front or maybe even play 4-3-3 at some point.

No idea why people want Defoe so much.

Cisse is far better than him, and would start ahead of him. If we play 442 then Zamora/Cisse are the likely starters.

Does Defoe really offer that much that Johnson or even DJ Campbell don't? He's the best of the threee but not by a huge amount, and I can't see him joining us just to sit on the bench.

                    He can't play in a 4231 or 433.

For the guy above, 433 doesn't just mean playing three strikers. As he is barely involved in buildup play, and I doubt he is much use defensively, Defoe is completely unsuited to being a wide forward.

His only possible role is being a backup to Cisse as Zamora's partner when we play 442. Really worth forking out the big wages just for that?

I rate him. Could do well with the service from the quality midfield.

                      4-2-3-1

Spurs don't have any centre forwards so I'd be amazed if Defoe went anywhere

Cisse scores goals. So does Defoe. If we lose Cisse to injury or suspension we basically have a handful of centre forwards who hold up the ball but don't score. Helguson is the exception. But who knows whether he'll stick around.

I agree Cisse is 1st team. Defoe on the cheap is great impact sub though, knows how to finish and I think Spurs could've benefited from using him more.
