  • Park to be next QPR captain?

He's the ultimate professional, no player in our squad has the same level of experience he has in our squad, he's come from a massive club like Manchester United, he works his nuts off on the pitch, he only ever makes it into the back pages of the newspapers, some of the best managers in the world such as Wenger and Ferguson claim that he sacrifices himself for the team, surely this is the kind of player we want to lead our team?

I certainly wouldn't mind if Hughes picked him to replace Barton, but I also think the likes of Ferdinand, Faurlin and Cisse would do a good job with the arm band.

Derry and Hill are clearly natural leaders, but they will spend the majority of time on the bench next season I think.

But will he start every game? A captain needs to be there to start and play every game, and be loud and commanding. It'll be one of the defenders I reckon...Nelsen or Hill...

Park would be the best bet. Of course he should start every game imo.

Of course he will start every game! He's come to QPR because Hughes has guarantee'd him that he will play him every game, which Ferguson couldn't do at Manchester United. If he was going to just start the odd game for us, then he would of stayed at United! Park and Cisse will be the first two names on our team sheet

Agreed. I think Sir Alex would've continued to use Park as his big-game player but I never thought this was quite fair because it's not easy for a player to just sit out and not get minutes and be expected to be tossed into an important match and perform. You need to play every week to build up into form so I think Park will do great for QPR. People are saying he's on his last legs but I think that Hughes will unleash him by letting him attack without as much defensive duties and we'll see a much better goal/assist output than he's ever had at United.

Park will certainly start every game, and there's no doubt that he's a great pro. But captain material? I know they don't all have to be Roy of the Rovers but he's a pretty quiet chap by all accounts....

Wouldn't mind Cisse getting the armband personally. Loves the limelight and will thrive on the responsibility.

I would prefer Cisse to be our captain, but I wouldn't be disappointed if Hughes hands Park the armband

Park WAS a bit introverted, I agree. He took years to break into the Man Utd squad, but he's a different man now. He captained SK, reached semi's in the world cup, and won everything there is to win in England. Does anyone's cv come even close?

We would be foolish not have a international captain as our captain lol.

I think if he's made captain that will be a huge clue which will determine where he plays... Cannot see a winger being captain.. They inevitably get hauled off in games and a captain needs to be on the pitch till the end.

be amazed if he wassnt captain and will clearly start every game when fit. depending on whether we sign another centre midfielder or not Park will either play there or on the right side of midfield (not a winger as such, he will be all over the right side of the pitch and coming in to the middle to collect the ball - think that will be fine for the captain).

I do not like the idea of giving the captaincy to a new player. Barton was wrong. I would give it to someone who has been at the club for at least one year.

He is the ultimate pro yes, but i thin ka captain would need to have a better grasp of English than him and be forceful to give players a rollicking if needed, or a word of encouragement.... would he be that player, i don't think.

This. The idea of captain and what sort of player should be seems to have be lost in recent years, with many teams just chucking their "best player" the armband. A leader that will grab your side byt he scruff of the neck when the going gets tough is my idea of a captain.... Saying that, not sure who fits the bill in our current side! Hill is an obvious candidate but I doubt he will be in the starting 11 come the season's start tbh.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

If MH plans on starting Ryan Nelsen most games, i think he will be made captain. He's a natural leader and has captained a prem club for years, and his country.
