That is my point though. It used to be a case that assualt on a football pitch was not dealt with by the law. If Terry is found guilty - there is no way that can remain the way as precedence will be set that the pitch is no sanctuary from the law. As football is not boxing, that means a complaint from the public about what Joey Barton did on the last day, for example, will mean that the police will have to act.

I don't agree.....The only reason this has been bought to court and the resultant publicity is because of the possible racism.......as I said..everyone wants to be seen to be acting strongly regarding this, whereas a couple of players having a slap on a saturday doesn't (quite rightly) warrant the same attention.

We all know Terry said it, he knows he said it but when he got found out he cacked his pants and can up with this I was merely repeating what I thought Anton was a accusing me of. Yeah cos if some black geezer was asking me if I called him a black c*nt I'd really go "Do you think Im calling you a ****ing black c*nt?" What a load of sh*t!

He has been found out and he knows it. I'd have more respect for him if he manned up and admitted it.

                Arsenal getting mugged off:

Crown to Ashley Cole: 'You used to play for Arsenal, the crowd doesn't make any noise at the Emirates do they?' [LAUGHTER in court]

Sorry, you are wrong. The publicity has played a part in this, but assulat is a more serious offence than racial comments. And your view is totally subjective. I think elbowing someone in the face and smashing their eye socket is far worse than calling someone a black ****. Luckily, so does the law. In your world violence would be acceptable but calling people names would be a hanging offence if it had the word "black" involved.

hmmmm....my point is that not everything that happens on a football pitch will end up in court.....It doesn't matter whether it is a premier league match or a pub match on a sunday morning.....everyone accepts that passions rise and things can get a bit feisty.....TBH..your ever so slightly extreme 'eye socket' example probably should end up in court!

All you've done in that last post is use a particularly violent assault as an example yet try to infer that 'black' is just a word when used on the same pitch......

Rather than risk falling out with any fellow QPR fans by commenting on their various arguments about the value and purpose of this trial, I decided instead to write a piece that rips into the nonsense written by various knobs on Twitter:

No, the point I have made is that this case could change what happens on a football pitch, if it doesn't we will see more players in court. As rangersbitch's article points out this has nothing to do with Anton making a complaint to his employer, or about conduct in a place of work. The football pitch has been a sanctuary from the law for a long time, this case means it will not be if JT is found guilty and the police will have to treat every incident where a member of public makes a complaint about an assualt (for example), with witnesses and camera's as sources of evidence, seriously. This could be as big for football as Bosman.

I would rather there is an element of leaving things on the field, others don't want that, but you can't have it half or both ways. Either breaking the law on a football pitch means a criminal investigation or it doesn't. You can't limit it to racial slurs because the application of the law cannot be selective like that.

Interesting silvercue.....But maybe SOME examples of particularly bad behaviour SHOULD be looked at from a criminal angle........have a look at this .... http://planetivy.com/sport/1063/joey...their-actions/

I dont see what point you are trying to make? That not all tweets are 100% accurate? Well this is nothing new and the article comes off as pretty boring because of that.
