Celtic supporting mate summed him up as follows: Good player. Classy passer, hopeless tackler.

He also seems to be a very similar player to Ale Faurlin, a deep lying playmaker, just trying to get my head round who's going to fit in where?!!!
What's the point of buying Diakite then?

I actually reckon that Diakite aand Faurlin would compliment each other quite well. I'm just not sure where Ki would fit in though, unless Hughes is thinking 4-3-3.

Because Jelevic has turned out to be a flop.

People shouldnt be so quick to judge a player just because he has played a couple of seasons in the SPL.

Stepping stone, ever heard of it?

You may be right, but I seem to remember the same things being said of Jelavic when he went to Everton. The relative merits of the SPL vs EPL hasn't stopped several teams taking a punt on the players jumping the sinking Rangers ship...

Do we just go into the season with the single mindedness of Diakite and Faurlin without a back up plan and adequate cover?

Of course not but I really didn't think we were at the stage of parting with the sorts of cash we have paid for Diakite and what Ki is rumoured to be costing for back up players. I would have thought if we spent 4, 5 or 6 million on a player, that player would have been signed as a 1st team regular. Also Ki was quoted as saying that he would only leave Celtic for a side that would gaurentee him regular first team football in Scottish press recently.

Excatly this. We need SQUAD not a starting 11.

I'm all for supporting Mark Hughes in the transfer market with whatever/whoever he wants to sign but for I think we should be looking at a centre back first.

                          I don't know Ki Sung-Yueng so I can't comment on him
                          Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                          And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

I believe there were 6 Scottish managers in the Prem last season.......ok so Kenny Dalglish won't be there next season but just cos the nation doesn't have a good league these days it doesn't make them mugs or automatically make all the players in the league sub-standard!
