I just thought he might turn out another Parejo and how many midfielders do we need when we're crying out for decent striker of which we have none.

As I said before...the difference between Dos Santos and Parejo is that Dos Santos has been settled ofer here for a while now and has already proved himself in the CCC with Ipswich.

That and he's played nearly 20 full international games for Mexico, making Brazil look average in one of those.

Also, agree that another midfielder is not the answer, but Dos Santos looks more than capable of being a striker.

Again...not trying to compare apples with apples, but Thiery Henry was once a winger. Dos Santos's style of finishing is very similar if you look. The kid seems ultra composed in front of goal and also sees things ahead of him.

If we sign him, I'd go as far as to say he'll be the best player we've had at the club in a long time.
Benny - I cant understand why they are trying to make midfielders strikers, when the skill sets are different. Just because you are fast and tricky don't mean you will score goals if you play up front. Sheringham, Shearer, Phillips, Lineker, Bull, Allen and Beardsley for example were not fast, but they knew where the goal was.

Like I say...I don't think this is an unacceptable choice.

I don't feel Taarabt will ever be a big goal scorer. Same with Vine, but Dos Santos can finish and he is clever enough to make runs into the box from what I've seen of him.

I think he could do it.

By the way, Paul...I'm not saying It's ideal either as I'd sooner have Beckford there, but It's far from the worst idea over recent years.

better suited to playing up front than taarabt

as already said its not the ideal situation but id rather have him than no one

Dos Santos will be a fantastic player at this level but it doesn't really address the real problem areas in our squad. Dos Santos is an attacking midfielder, very similar to Taraabt. What we do not have in the squad is a decent quality centre forward or cover for either full back or goalkeeper.

Dos Santos used to play in the front 3 when at Barca cutting in from the left like Henry is doing now. didnt play in the 3 man midfield

Dubbed the new ronaldinho when he was at Barca, he shudnt have left then again Barca agreed n decided to let him go. Spurs hardly given him a chance. Wud be an amazing signing n wud get us goals - quite likely to be clubs top earner if he joined

This kid is a real talent. His development has been hindered slightly at Tottenham but he has the potential to be a great player. I remember seeing him score hat-trick in his last game for Barcelona. Two of which were great finishes.

His favoured position is a forward. Similar sort of role to Aguero at Atletico. Basically he is probably the most talented player in the Championship but it's whether he is mentally up for the challenge that will be the biggest factor.

Very happy if this comes off.

But surely we shold be looking for someone who's been dubbed the next Stuart Wardley.....:electric_shock:

Seriously though, i don't know much about this fella... but sounds very promising from his Barca days... typical of Spurs to spend money and then waste the talent.

Very good player. He was a regular in Barcelona's first team the season before he signed for Spurs (for around 4.7 million rising to 8). My only concern is that he's a similar player to what we already have in Taarabt and Vine, in that he is more of a creative 'second striker' rather than an out and out centre forward.

He is wasted at Spurs.....hasn't been given a fair shot IMO. As a few posts above said he was brilliant when breaking into the Barcelona first team.

We need a target man sort of striker or someone big and powerful who can run at defenders

Santos would be a good signing but not the answer to our goals scoring problems

I think you will all find that Dos Santos will be used as a striker here at LR rather than a midfield player. Also Buzsaky,Faurlin and Rowlands will have bad injuries this season, isn't it nice to know that Dos Santos is there ready to take the spot.

One thing we lacked over the years was depth and quality, so come on now Dos Santos will be a great addition and will score goals.
