Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. We had people predicting things like top half or a Europa League slot last season and we just about hung on. Yes, we're improving our squad, but so are other clubs. I am cautiously optimistic and am hopeful of finishing around 14-15th. Anything higher is a welcome bonus.Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Firstly anything other than a final day survival battle is an improvement to me, the Hughes factor i believe is massive this season. Pre season with his philosophy and leadership will be huge, he doesn't always play the open expansive game, but he gets hes teams playing for one another and there are generally hard to beat. I get the feeling last year not all were pushing in the same direction, this wont happen under Hughes. The squad will be stronger for pre season and lets hope all transfer business is done soon, i have never thought Rs will over spend, listen to TF and he keeps mentioning step by step, new training ground is a huge step, and much needed, new ground will be next, building blocks that make the club bigger and stronger and allow the power of spending that some think possible now.

I think we all have great reason to be optimistic.
Taking away the signings we have and the ones we might have we have had a whole summer to prepare and continue to learn Hughes system.
We beat (and nearly beat) some massive teams end of last season and I don’t see why we can’t build on that, Hughes certainly will want to and I think he usually gets what he wants!
If we can’t be optimistic now…..
I recon top 4 finish and the FA cupCOME ON YOU RRRRSSS

This is a very interesting debate.
We threw away points to the likes of Norwich and Wolves at home due to red cards. We didn't have a proper pre-season but rightly pointed out above was our fairly decent start despite this.
Second season syndrome is there for us, Norwich and Swansea. We have added a little more quality so far and with a full pre season under Hughes I believe everyone will be fitter too.
I agree that we still need 2-3 players before we can even contemplate mid table. A CB & CM are priority.

Very confident in Hughes and his team..I think the boards expectations are higher than 99% of fans, I think they are looking to do more than just make up the numbers over the next few seasons.
We may be next seasons surprise package

I too have to agree with most of Stainrod's points! I think we have a much better squad to start off and a manager who knows how to get the most of what he has, that has to bode well for us! My main concern is the division is going to be stronger this season with no obvious relegation candidates, I could be proven wrong on this but I believe the promoted teams will be solid and Wigan may be the only team people pick to go down but they always find a way to survive! If we get off to a good start and gather some points I'll feel much better about our survival chances!@gatorTFC

Just looking at Gingers in and out lists you can see how far we have moved on in the course of 12 months. With the exception of Ramage, none of the other players have trained under or played for a successfull Manager in the top flight. While our "In`s" have. This alone feels me with faith that only good things can happen to this club from here on in.Yes some are aging and will be coming to the end of their shelf lives but the experience and knowledge they bring will be invaluable."I could think of a number of what I think would be interesting (and not even "gotcha") questions. But they wont be asked"

It's a big ask, but QPR will need to carry on their winning home form next season and improve on the away form to be a top half side.
I feel confident that with a full pre season to get the players he wants, Hughes and his team, will be able to coach the players to play better away from home.
It's a new slate, and they wont have the same pressure on them as they did in early 2012.
But I do agree, that some more quality signings will be needed in order to achieve a good top 12 position.

As everyone else says on here, I feel with MH at the helm we will be ok (about 12th). He has the tactical nous that NW never had and he also knows how to change it if it is not working. Plus I think he has the utmost respect from the players because he has been there and done it as a player and worked with some great coaches.God I miss cooke's pie & mash

Proper management team, pre-season and behind the scenes stability will all go towards helping the team improve on the pitch.
No disrespect intended to any player, but I would compare our potential squad with what appeared on the first day of last season:
Kenny
Dyer - Hall - Gabbidon - Hill
Taarabt - Faurlin - Derry -Smith
Bothroyd - Campbell
Subs: Murphy, Orr, Helguson, Buszacky, Agyemang, Ephraim, Connolly
I'd say we have greatly improved the personnel and it's not necessarily finished yet.
Personally think top 10 is possible but would also be a fantastic achievement. Be nice if we were thereabouts all season wouldn't it, with just the number of hoops to moan about.
