Gary Waddock. If you were tackled by him, you stayed tackled. I do remember tho a tackle by Mad Mark when he took out an entire row of advertising hoardings from one end of elerslie rd to the other, which collapsed and the thud echoed round the entire ground followed by a collective intake of breath. if he had connected with the winger he wd only have left in a wheelcahir

Going back to around 1988 the club held the annual Xmas party for the players' wives and kids. it was relayed to me by a club staffer who was there: 'Guess whose four year old daughter told Santa to 'F*ck off?'

      Mark Dennis'

      It ran in the family.

I suppose Vinnie Jones belongs in this thread. Gillard was on the firm side but an excellent FB imo.

Webb,Hazell,MaGuire,Gillard,Dennis,Waddock all hard tacklers but when i ask my mate VS who has seen games going back some 50 odd years this question he always says Bobby Keetch..

                    yes i used

yes i used to watch bobby keetch play for qpr,and he was a tough tackling little geezer

for a center half he was quite short im not sure how tall he was at a guess i would say 5ft 9 ins

we got him from fulham,he was as hard as nails

so it looks like we are all thinking waddock, tony hazell, bob hazell vinny jones terry fenwick alan mcdonald, bobby keetch..........................but im thinking that clint hill must be one of the all time hardest taclers

incidently hammer who is west hams toughest tackler im guessing billy bonds or frank lampard or julien dicks

Did anyone mention Vinnie Jones...or...Razor Ruddock yet?

dont think they were the hardest, but a previous post said with ability.....both had both....IMHO....
