  • Nedum Onuoha

What are your views on him, bearing in mind he was originally signed as a CB, who can also cover at RB/LB?

Personally I'm still not 100% convinced over him as a RB.

And if the rumours of Luke Young's move to Reading are to be believed, is RB a position we're still weak in?

I have been very disappointed with his performances. There were a few games where his defensive displays were way below what I would expect from a £4M player.

Just needs a full pre season in CB, he's a very good defender, he's strong and fast and good in the air, we have a very good defender in Nedum and I believe we will see him perform much better next season

He did disappoint last season, but he did get better as the season progressed. He is a very big lad and probably needs a lot more work than most to get fully fit. Has good potential so will be interesting to see how he looks after a full pre-season.

We won't be signing anymore Sambas!
I can think of 12 million reasons why immediately
I could also think of 120 thousand other resins every week

Ferdinand & Onuoha together is a no-go even in the long term.

If Nedum wants to prove himself at RB he could probably do with trading a bit of bulk for speed this summer IMO. Have seen him play good games there at City and Sunderland so it's a little bit of a mystery so far.

Certainly has everything in his locker to sort it out eventually though.

An outstanding junior sprinter; aged 14 he finished in second place in the final of the 2001 English School's Athletics Association Junior 100 metres contest, clocking 11.09 seconds and beating current Great Britain sprinter Craig Pickering.[

He is also currently the co-national record holder for boys under 15 standing triple jump, in the Sports Hall events held annually throughout the UK, the record is held with international long jumper Jonathan Moore.

I mean granted this was when he was 14 but we haven't really seen any of this like so far.

thought he looked pretty solid the back end of last season at right back, not the most brilliant going forward but OK and certainly solid defensively. But at centre back he looked out of his depth and v hesitant I thought. Wd be v concerned if he was our centre half next season other than in emergencies. A really towering, powerful, mobile centre half alongside Anton is the first, second and third priority for me in this transfer window.

Could he be used as a defensive midfielder behind faurlin and diakite?

Agreed, he was starting to look comfortable at right back as the season wore on. It is worth mentioning that he had hardly played in a year before we signed him, there was obviously gonna be some rustiness there. As for him at centre half, the jury is still very much out on that, looked very unconvincing when parterned with Anton. In my opinion we are definitely still short of 1 decent centre half.

You have to give the guy a chance, he can't become naff overnight and needed some games. Hope we get to see the best of him this season coming.

i thought he was much better playing RB than CB. bear in mind we signed him in jan and he hadnt played at all since the previous season for sunderland.

This. Personally thought he was a steady eddie at RB, no qualms with him at all. With a full pre-season with the team under his belt I can only see him getting better as well. With him RB and Fabio LB I'm chuffed with our full backs tbh, just need a CB now.
