did you get what you wanted from this thread Funky.

GIanni joined a while back and after coming out of administration we were never closer to going back into admin than when he was in control.

around that time Risdale was interested along with a number of others, but they all wanted control. gp was an alternative stop gap but he was underestimated by the powers that be at the time in my opinion.

There are so many ifs buts and maybe's that anyone stating that we would have been this or that or even the other is at best speculation and at worst absolute rubbish.

its like saying what would england be like now if Napoleon had won at waterloo, ir Harold had won at hastings! sensless debate

I think it's quite a good debate and has had a fair bit of response.

I do find it quite funny that at the start I said if GP had not joined yet some people see it as an excuse to bring him into the debate no matter what ...talk about axe to grind, one person even compared him to cancer.

No my original point was actually made to see if it would be possible for a club like ours to be able to compete in the CCC without multi million pound investment.

I still think it's possible you only have to look at how prudent Burnely have been to see that it is possible.

QPR has changed in my opinion for the better and despite everything I'm delighted with Flavio, Bernie and the Mittalls family.

And as for GP well love him, hate him he is still here and has a fantastic passion for our football club.

      Long may that continue.

I take it Funky that Pete isn't on because he is going down to Devon to watch the 3 fixtures coming up. I am surprised you didn't join him
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Ok an alternative view - GP put money into the club without carrying out any due dilligence (by his own admission), realised after a while the true nature of the mess we were in and realised he could easily lose all his money - he brought in some "friends" and got rid of BP et al. Debts spiralled out of control as he couldn't manage it and whilst he may have remortgaged his house to invest (BP did it a few times just to keep us trading) he was staring down the abyss realising impending personal bankruptcy beckoned. Desperately seeks an investor gets lucky with FB.

So was it because of a love of QPR or to save his own monumental screw up in investing in the first place and not being able to run the place and increasing the debt to uncontrollable levels? You decide the true motivation.

Either way nice cushy little job now signing midfielders on a nice salary and interest free loans..

Still say a great schmoozer (more seem to get sucked in after a meeting with him every week) but shouldn't be a Sporting Director.

End of the day we're still here, my own belief is someone would have picked us up from admin and we'd possibly be a lot better off in terms of debt than we are now - the current level of debt is fine at the moment as they are servicing it but at what cost? the playing squad... The spiralling debt needs watching closely though as I'm not entirely convinced anyone would want to buy us with the accounts in the shape they are in....

In the meantime enjoy the ride & the 4 year game plan and arguing amongst ourselves..

why should paladini get an interest free loan. when qpr fans have to pay interest on the season ticket. very wrong

in future i would send paladini down to barclays like the rest of us have to.

One way or another the club would have been saved

We might not be at the championship level but we would survive

I know it's not like Gianni ever put any of his own money into the club to keep it going.

Barclays, nah I'd send him to Ocean Finance

Funky - Are you suggesting the interest free loan he received was some form of repayment to the money he put in to keep the club going so Flavio could buy it ?
