Norwich away in 1976 is quite obviously the most mordern day answer, win there and we would have won the Championship.
But way back when, and I will stand to be corrected, but did we not loose a vote against Spurs, they went into the Football League, and we ended up in the Southern league, the rest, as they say is history.
i'd go with this.both could have changed our club beyond what we know it as now.

i think i read something along those lines, myself. I may be wrong too, but i thought QPR actually won the southern lge, and spurs were elected in our place, which was unprecedented back then as all the previous winners of the southern lge were promoted .
It has to be that Norwich game back in 1976,if we would have won that game we were Championsand would have changed the history of our club possibly may have even been the European cup winners with the team we had, a far better footballing team than Liverpool, I was at Carrow Rd that day lives in my memory
That's why getting our hands on THAT Trophy 35 years later meant SO MUCH to me.
Damn Paladini for stopping me enjoying it sooner. But at least we finally did it.
