  • Club statement - Barton

''QPR statement on Joey Barton due at midday after they conclude their internal investigation. Stay tuned.''

Barton to be given yet another "one last chance" by a club, this time with QPR,I really think the only, and I mean only reason for this is that it would cost us too much to sack him
Now,hopefully there is some legal agreement set up that if/when he steps out of line again that he can be legally sacked

Please dear god say he will stay. It will be a massive waste of 11million if they sack him
      Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
      And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

No way that will happen,if sacked it will be after lengthy legal argument on both sides, but it's going to be a "one last chance" I would imagine

I dont think the club will be able to sack him, and they definitely wont pay him off, Mark Hughes being the top professional that he is wouldn't want Barton anywhere near his first team, but he is on such a huge contract the clubs hands are tied. I do however feel in this last chance Joey , they should make it clear to him about behavior on and off the pitch and insist he stays off twitter.

Hope he stays and sorts himself out for the better.

We need 100% out of him otherwise we're better off making room for a new player.

Have always said i don't for one second think they will sack him.

Not only becasue it would cost millions, and we'd lose a very decent player, but whatever he's done in the past working for other clubs / companies can't be taken into account with regards to any employment disciplinary situation with QPR, it's irrelevant.

Add to that the incident at City, however, bad it was, was his first issue since being with us all season.. not really what you'd expect from such a "bad boy". Yes he lost it, yes he'll be disciplined, yes i expect he'll lose the captaincy for sure. It will be a slap on the wrist and warning as to future conduct when representing the club. End of.

End of? More like "start of". This will be the warning. The club will now have given him the rope to hang himself. Sure, if he stays disciplined then we have a fairly decent (though not exceptional) player when his ban is finally over. If he doesn't, then having already given him an official warning, a further misdemeanour would presumably give the club the legal basis to sack him without paying off his contract.

Yeah exactly. I was referring to end of this whole incident / debate. Whatever happens in the future is another matter altogether.
