Rooney is world class, no doubt about it IMO.

"World class" is a saying banded around abit too easily these days. IMO it should be used for the top handful of players in their positions. In our national side I'd say we have 3 world class players: Hart, Ashley COle & Rooney.

Yes, Rooney doesnt really do it for England but, for me, thats not a true reflection. England play a few competative games a year with 1 competition every 2 years in which the team trains together for a couple of weeks. Rooney plays week in week out for 9-10months of the year at club level, in arguably the best league in the world, and consistently performs. Last season he scored 35 goals in 44 games at the top level. This far far outweighs having 2 poor games for England in a shambles of a national side. He is a top top player.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

England didnīt excatly play to his strenght against Italy. IMO, England defended way to low..
it says it all that Glenn Johnson was actually "world class" in that game. Joe Hart aswell.

If perhaps England had actually had a go this tournament, then Rooney may have shone a little more but the negative way we set up didnt really give the guy a hope in hell !
