Should England do what Germany did and completely start again with a load of our most talented youngsters? Basically axing most of those that have had chance after chance?

We play this squad at the World Cup and we'll go far..."When you went to the corner and saw our fans celebrating the way they were you just wanted to be part of it" - Shaun Derry after we beat the scum 1-0

our game is suffering a bit... but to be honest the scottish, welsh and irish national sides are absolutely destroyed by the foreign influx (how surreal does it seem nowadays that scotland were more regular at world cups than england 30-40 years ago?).
we need to jettison more-or-less all of the "golden age" - bye-bye to lumplard, r. terry etc. and focus on younger players maybe gerrard can stay on...
a team can be more than the sum of its parts - greece showed that 8 years ago... and the foundations are there with england - hodgson is a good manager, neville is a good number two.

Do you think we should get rid of Rooney too, i wonder whether we look more of team without him, maybe he's too big for the team and others rely on him too much. I wonder if we should bite the bullet during the qualifiers and blood a lot of the u21s.
Edit I do think if there is a set of fans that can understand that the best players don't always make the best team it's us. Our results over the last 10 games of the season showed this. The team is made up of different characters and abilitiesLast edited by QPRDave; 24-06-2012, 11:58 PM.

Don't think it's influx of foreign players, we've been shite for years even when we didn't have many foreign players. If we look at the 4 teams in the semis Germany restructured their youth team prior to the world cup in the homeland, Portugal have ronaldo, Italy have pirlo and Spain have the best midfield of all time. England have players on great wages but technically in a 3 week intense competition aren't good enough but over a long drawn out english season in the cold etc do play well. I think we need one or even two "world class" players and unfortunately we rely on gerrard, Rooney and terry who maybe good club players but are limited on the international scene, even a below average italian player was better than these three tonight. Gazza best england player since Charlton, grieves and Moore and that seems to sum us up IMHO.

The problem is as I see it is we don't give any of our young talent a chance as all of our top clubs take the easy way out and buy foreign talent which equals instant success and s short sighted future. If you look at the Spanish side ( and boring they maybe to watch) the majority of players in their league are born and bred Spaniards. So until we look at English players ( all home nations included) and nurture home bred talent we will forever be also rans in the global game as any fool can see that we are being overtaken in technical ability and basic skills by 3rd word countries.
