He is World class. As I said before he was lacking game time because of that 3 match ban...you could clearly see that today.

or was he tired after a long season???thats what normally is said. well he should have been chomping at the bit and after his rest ready to go. a good player that the hacks have blown up into a superstar. you read the papers too much mate.

Today I admit he did play crap! But the reason he ain't been scoring much for United for a while now is because he's changed into more of a 'creator' rather than a goalscorer...plays a bit like Scholes for united with the long passing and dropping back.. If he was played as an attacking midfielder today I think he would have been much more effective. I still think he was lacking match fitness though..

not a dig but world class says exactly that. if he was that good you would'nt need to make excuses about him. world class players don't need people sticking up for them.

Are you talking about the guy who scored 35 in 44 on a United team that was seriously devoid of talent? You are right though, he can drop deep and play incredible diagonal balls, no idea why he has been so bad in 2 tournaments now.

The weaknesses in the team I think is we don't play with two pacey wingers, and we should be playing with a big 'un and a little 'un up front. I think if Gareth Barry had been fit we'd have played 4-2-3-1.

With Roy in charge.................you will never see anything other than 2 banks of 4 with the emphasis on sitting really, really deep......get used to it....you've got that until the FA fire him.

"World class" is a saying banded around abit too easily these days. IMO it should be used for the top handful of players in their positions. In our national side I'd say we have 3 world class players: Hart, Ashley COle & Rooney.

Yes, Rooney doesnt really do it for England but, for me, thats not a true reflection. England play a few competative games a year with 1 competition every 2 years in which the team trains together for a couple of weeks. Rooney plays week in week out for 9-10months of the year at club level, in arguably the best league in the world, and consistently performs. Last season he scored 35 goals in 44 games at the top level. This far far outweighs having 2 poor games for England in a shambles of a national side. He is a top top player.

I rate Rooney highly, just cant understand how he was so poor in the tournement. Take for example 2 other 'world class' players at the Euros....Ronaldo has carried Portugal through to the semis (wouldn't suprise me if they do Spain as well) and even though they are out, Ibrahimovic grabbed Swedens games by the scruff of the kneck and has probably been the best attacker at the competition performance wise. I just can't see Rooney doing that for England.

Forwards like Maradona Messi Pele Cruyff Muller Charlton are world class. Is Rooney up with them? I don't think so.

I just think the weight of expectation placed on his shoulders is just to much and effects his game , and he has controlled his aggresion and anger to the point where he is becoming ineffective , he just seemed unintrested................
