I'm fed up of all these people dismissing England's chances before a ball is even kicked. If fans don't believe, why should the players? With defeatist attitudes like these, why bother ever entering these tournaments?

Since when did the English become like the French and turned into a nation of surrender monkeys? Ok, we may not be playing world-beating football and we may not progress any further after tonight, but I'm backing our boys to do the job.

Even if we beat Italy tonight, the surrender monkeys will all be saying we'll get done by the Germans. You're putting the white flag up before the game's begun. What's the matter with you lot? Just as well we didn't run the white flag up before we played Spurs Liverpool and Arsenal at the end of last season or we'd be watching championship football next season. I've not said we'll win it, I'm saying back the boys in the competition. It's called loyalty mate....

It seems you and I have different mentalities. Defeat for either club or country doesn't enter my head. I hate the thought of either losing and never think about it. I don't go in for all this, 'oh it's the Germans, they'll teach us a lesson' stuff. Granted, they're a good team, but I don't see why we should write our team off before we play them, IF we play them.

When I did my coaching badge I also did a sports psychology diploma with the university of Newcastle, and one of the things I learned is you never ever consider defeat. You plan a way out of potential pitfalls, and you assess, adapt, and overcome.

We'll have to agree to disagree. You stick with your prediction, I say we have a chance.

I remember all the so called knowledgeable people in world football saying that Chelsea would not beat Barcelona in the Champions League semi final, and when they did, the same clowns were saying they would not beat the Germans in Germany, in the final............... but they did and just shows that football is a funny old game and anything can happen in a winner takes all game.
