Mate of mine is a Fulham fan (well you've got to allow them one) and reckons Murphy a great player and still has a lot to offer.I reckon he's as good as Barton without the baggage.Proper hard working team player.

Murphy has been arguably their best player for years. Only Dempsey and Dembele would be conisdered above them even now id say. He's their quarter back type player, the one who pulls the strings, and one of the better passers in the prem. For anyone to suggets he's no good is laughable.

He would only ever be a short term option, but could certainly cover others when needed.

Better than Barton in my opinion. Would take him like a shot. A midfield with Faurlin and Diakite with Barton and Murphy as replacements would be decent in my opinion. A long way from Akos and Derry.

A lot of people are making a big thing about the age of our squad, but look at this way. Rob Green is 32, quite young for a top keeper. Fabio is 21, Ferdinand is 27 and Onouha is 25.

Our first choice midfield could be Traore 22, Diakite 23, Faurlin 25, and Mackie 26. That's a likely 7 out of 10 outfield players with an average age of 24, the oldest being 27.

What Hughes is doing is adding experience to that nucleus. We have the likes of Hill and Derry in the squad. We've added Nelsen and Johnson to this list, and in Cisse we have a striker who knows where the goal is. BZ as we know, will have an important role to play, and I suspect in July, we'll add a marquee signing, possibly a centre back, possibly a forward, but for me, the squad has a good mix of youth and experience.

Been consistently one of there better players for 3 seasons now, makes them tick in midfield, also think it will be as a player coach . Why do fans still have a hang up on over 30's ? Footballers now really look after themselves, even on there holidays they have fitness sheets to follow, you can play at the top level at 36/37 and on no problem now. Look at Giggs or Scholes, remember super Ray Wilkins ??

There's saying in in football never go back, Hughs seems to doing a fair bit with his old boys , not jibbing at Murph but I can't see all working out taking their ages into concideration

The likes of Derry and Murphy are the kind of players you want to send on when you're 1-0 up at Old Trafford or the Emirates with 20 mins to go.

Would be the best centre back pairing in the history of the game bar none!

Perhaps we should start a 'Clint Dempsey to QPR' rumour. That'll really wind them up!
