  • Took my 3yr old son to his first qpr game Saturday.......

And it was a complete sucess! He loved every minute of it! We took a trip down the club shop on Friday and brought him the home kit with Charlie 3 on the back and it ended up costing me £43!!! While I was there I picked up the tickets to save us time messing about on Saturday, he seemed excited just going to the club shop, it worked out well getting him use to the surroundings.

On the day of the game we drove in and parked at the bottom of sawley road and walked up, he kept saying "look daddy that mans got the same shirt on as me!" we went back into the club shop where my dad brought him a hat to wear due to the glorious sunshine and a sparks plush toy, he was made up with that!

I've got to give a big mention to the club also, I've never sat in the family stand but I was really impressed, as we came through the turnstile we were greeted by sparks! My son got so excited and ran upto him and sparks gave him a huge hug and picked him up, they then had a few photos done and he was well chuffed! Then sparks handed Charlie a gulf air welcome pack with sun glasses, pen and colouring book, story book, wallet and a cool little bag to put it all in, he then said "thanks spark I love it" lol

we got into the stands and found our seats in the sun soaked block hl, sparks then came round again and he was watching him like a hawk and was getting so excited! the players then came out and he was amazed by the fireworks, I picked him up and he clapped for bobby robson. The roar at kickoff unsettled him slightly and he covered his ears, but after a few minutes he was fine.

A big bottle of water and pack of sweets kept him amused for the most part and he sat still most of the time. The heat played a part towards the end of the first half, I couldn't wait for halftime to get him out the sun for a bit. Half time rolled around and a hotdog coupled by the clouds covering the sun was much welcomed!

We took our seats and shooting towards the loft got him really involved in the game, he let out a regular burst of "come on you r's" and "qpr"! It was so funny to see him getting into it! Think he's found his favorite player in buzsaky, when he came over to our side to take corners he was copying people and shouting "come on buz"! When we scored he was jumping up and down shouting really enjoying himself.

All in all he had a great day and was a joy to bring along, only two trips to the toilet needed too! We got in the car and he turned round and said "daddy I like football" ;D

    Ah...and I was expecting a crap story.

Glad to hear it went well mate as 1st impressions are important for this. The fact he had a great day may hurt your pocket though as he'll no doubt bug you to keep bringing him.

    Seriously though, great to hear.
    Your mum would love me...

To add to that...I took my mates boy last season and Q-Block was too much for him, but once I moved us down to the lower loft where it was less noisey...he enjoyed it so much more.

Excellent news! Really glad he enjoyed himself! Gives me hope for next season when no doubt my eldest will be wanting to come along!
QBP 20th August 2009..."To be fair, I'm glad we are top of the table (for agents fees). Shows we are not a selling club anymore."

Yeah your right it will hurt the pocket at the prices they charge for stuff in that club shop but it's priceless to see him wearing that hooped shirt and falling asleep at night cuddled up with his sparks toy. He's already asked when are we going football again!

Takes me back! There was a Mum and Grannie (I presume) behind me on Saturday with two young boys -I reckon about 8 years old and bright as buttons. The Mum did brilliantly fielding a stream of enquiries from her boys but was stumped by "So how long is the Rangers pitch then?" Her best response "We'll look that up when we get home".
                  Great to see.

Just as an idea...if you have the spare cash to get yourself a season ticket, I'm sure he gets his free due to age?

I said that to the misses that I wouldn't mind sitting there for the season and get us both a season ticket as it's free for the little guy!

Trying to justify it to the boss always helps when the little man enjoyed it so much
