  • Are we overlooking Mackies contribution to goals next season?

....seems to be an over sight with many surely he is worth 10 goals in PL 15 all competitions?

If he's a regular i see no reason why he won't score 10 goals. Surely SWP can't play that poorly again? And wait for it Kieron Dyer may last longer than 5mins? All options.

Will Dyer be used at RB again do you reckon?

he does score goals but id be interested if a stato worked out when he scored - bet there are a higher than average number of late goals. think he is better as an impact sub who runs at tired defences. to me lacks the artistry you need in the prem to open a game up in the first half.

Mackie will be playing the majority of games again next season. I know people on here still dont like him, but luckily MH does and gave him a pay rise in the form of an extended contract.

I think Mackie has done more than enough to prove he's worth a place in the starting 11

                  Agree with both comments

Actually think Mackie is one of our biggest assets, paid what 500k max...you wouldn't see much change from £5 million IMO.

Mackie would not sell for £5 million.

Why not? The value of footballers these days is huge. Just look at Jordan Henderson for example, had hardly done much at Sunderland and was bought for £20mill!! I know the arguement will be that he is young and english which seems to boost a players value these days, but if he is worth that, regardless of age or nationality, then why wouldn't Mackie be worth, say £4.5mill? He is 26 and scored 7 goals from a wide position in his first ever PL campaign, plus chipped in with a few assists. Not to mention he is a model pro; people go on about not wanting to touch people like Barton with a barge pole due to attitude, well surely that works both ways also?

you ask me why and within two sentences shaved off £500,000 from his value!! What would he be worth if you wrote out a couple of paragraphs???

This is setting the bar way too low. Nice player to have as a sub against tired defenders, but we should be looking to have a far better player as a starter.

Plus Mackie is much, much better playing wide right in a 4231/433. He's crap at RM in a classic 442, which is what Hughes will probably have us mostly playing next season.

Because Sir, if you read W12's post in which you replied to originally, he states "you wouldn't see much change from £5 million IMO". Hense seeing abit of change. But if you want to be petty, you can replace my £4.5mill with £5mill and it will still be valid IMO.

                              some

some players have the heart of the lion

dave speedie of chelsea was one such player he only used to score 15 goals a season

but it was his all round energy and his enthusiasm that created his enormous fan club
if mackie was given a nice long contract he would be worth on the transfer market 4 million pounds

but bare in mind cisse is worth ten million but we signed him for 4 million

so transfer values are really so unpredictable

zamora was worth 500 000 but we payed 4 million for him

hately was being lined up as a free transfer then wilkens paid 1-5 million for him

leighterwood was worth 2-5 million but we sold him for 600 000
