Premier League sell TV rights for £3 billion to BT and Sky
Premier League sell TV rights for £3 billion to BT and Sky
The Premier League have sold the domestic broadcast rights for 2013-16 for £3.018billion to BSkyB and BT. Sky have bought five of the seven available packages.
A 70% increase is huge especially in this economic climate and I imagine that the overseas rights will go up by even more. Basically means lots more money for us if we can retain our Premier League status and something maybe the owners were thinking about when they spent so heavily. A good sign that the Premier League will be the best league in the world for years to come and what a great time to be a part of it.
it is good news, but the money will all go to agents and players - the fans will not get price drops I fear. It would be great if they did.
Also the UK money isn't divided equally (the overseas is) so this means the big clubs get much more than the smaller ones. The gap will widen further....
