As I said, some people over-reacted to the news today, perhaps understandably given his previous, but in this case incorrectly (as it stands).

If you look on other forums/twitter etc, there's a great deal of pleasure being taken in this unprovoked assault, claiming karma and such. That's hypocritical in my opinion.
The reaction on here seems to be mainly a case of 'here we go again', and some questioning of whether he should be putting himself in these positions. Personally I think he's as entitled as anyone else to have a night out with his missus, wherever he fancies.

I'm also not particularly happy that this is being reported on SSN as 'QPR captain Joey Barton is injured in a fight' rather than as the story so far suggests 'QPR captain Joey Barton assaulted outside nightclub'

      • i love the "dragging the good name of QPR through the gutter" comments... are u muppets serious? so hold on, if any rangers player gets attacked outside a night club it's their fault and it reflects terribly on the good name of QPR?! pathetic

oh by the way, the good name that QPR had has completely vanished now due to some of the abuse we dish out at loftus road, yep thats right us fans have done far more to damage the so called good name of QPR. Do i care what other people think of our club? no i couldn't give a ****. so get off your high horses and get off bartons back with regard to THIS incident.

I agree, but right now, right now when he is being investigated by the club for his conduct, he might just have thought of having a few quiet nights in until the inquiry is over.

Some people on this thread reacted like spoilt girls, because they hate Joey Barton so much, its a simple as that.

QPR have issued a statement, stating Joey was subjected to verbal abuse and he tried to walk away. They then proceeded to attack him, and punched him in the face. Leaving him with blood on his mouth. He then walked away and didn't want to press charges.

Sky Sports News also reports this is how the incident played out.

As for the shirt. As others have said. Could have had blood on it. Could have been ripped off him by the thugs.

They couldn't be more pathetically wet, if they tried their hardest.

                • Give Barton a break ffs!! He's out with his mrs on his way home and gets ATTACKED.

This could happen to anyone. Trust me, to go a night out in Liverpool and not get in some sort of altercation is an achievement in itself! The fact that Barton was allowed to continue his journey home by the police says it all.

It amazes me how high profile people get treated in this country. Joey is generally known as **** of the earth, yet people like Gerrard (battered a DJ because he refused to play a song) and Terry (generally a wrong 'un) are fine examples of men and someone kids should look up too.

Even when Joey gets a slap, he's in the wrong for being out at 5.30am. He probably goes for a night out with his mrs two or three times a year, why shouldn't they both enjoy themselves and have a late one!?

All you 'do gooders' need to have a word with yourself, you're embarrassing!

Potentially, but this seemed like it was just a night out with his girlfriend. Hard to chastise him for that tbf

totally agree... this is being portrayed as if barton provoked/started a fight just because this fits with a media narrative of barton as a thug/bad boy etc.

Deepcut please accept my apology i have read your posts on this and other than you assuming it was a drunken brawl you have i agree stayed level headed on this.
I would like to state again as i did a couple of days ago if mark hughes, decides to let JB go then fair enough i am a QPR fan, and hughes is the manager, and no player is bigger than our club.
PS i too have looked at other sites and posters, supporters of our own team think this is funny is unbelievable bet some would have been rolling in the isles if he'd been stabbed to death.Don't think they realise it makes them no better than what they are complaining about

By the sounds of it 2 pi$$ed up lads were chanting at him and tried having a pop, for once seems he is the victim but no doubt, just because he is who he is, he will be put to blame.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

So if thats the case then Tevez by his actions provoked the attack on the pitch, Aguero by his mouthing off to the ref provoked the attack, Kompany body checking jb provoked the attempted attack also.
Not having a dig at you webbie just pointing out to others that it can't be one law for one and not the other.Because some on here are linking his off field behaviour with on field behaviour
