it's the other way round. read my post, immediately above yours, and compare the Guardian and the Sun's coverage of Barton.

        • We normally get a lot of things wrong and think the club are behind Joey.

Joey seems to be the victim, but it don't seem like it on here... unless I've missed something?

I read it but not sure I follow you. If you read Barton's interviews he definitely comes across as very left-wing, a champagne-socialist maybe, but still left-wing. Then if you follow most of the comments about him from posters on this board, then my post above bears out.

I'm probably one of the most politically aware and left-wing people on this site, and also one of the bigger Barton defenders. I doubt I am alone in this. My friends - generally lefties - were all Barton fans before he signed for QPR. There aren't many interesting, politically-engaged footballers who show any interest in self-improvement, or the world beyond football, nandos and spitroasting Essex birds.

Compare the coverage Joey gets in the Guardian (walks around art galleries, sympathetic interviews, articles on his music tastes) with the hatchet jobs in the Sun or Mail.

This isn't surprising though. 'Lefties' generally believe in the possibility of redemption as opposed to writing someone off as evil due to past acts. They are also more suspicious of mainstream media narratives that demonise individuals rather than looking at any structural issues. 'Barton is an evil thug' is a much easier message to convey than 'alcoholics from extremely deprived backgrounds with tonnes of money and a high pressure job often end up with behavioural issues'.

But Dave do keep ranting, this is very funny.

I think you should check you facts, he may well say he is a leftie but his personal views would put him to the right some of which I personally know are not in the public domain. One that is is that as a so called leftie he does not believe that the working class should be running the country. Well I for one will leave him to doft his cap to the clotted cream.

By the way can we cut this political clap trap out from emply vesssels and stick to the football which this site is meant to be about.

Which facts might these be Leveller? And as they're not in the public domain as you say, how would I be able to check them? Yet you claim to be in possession of them, so perhaps you'd care to enlighten us all...

Well starting with interviews in Newspapers last year such as the Sunday People about working class people so they are checkable. Dont be quick to lable people, particulary someone as mixed up as Joey Barton. His stated public utterances and those he holds privately do not make him a leftie, I am not sure whether he really knows, he appears to be anti anything he is not or was.

As for his personal views that have been expressed in private business that is where they will stay, because as much as I dislike them he has a right for them to stay that way. I will leave breaching business confidences to others.

Surprised that you ask. People are quick to lable people incorrectly even with information in the public domain. Others comment on what they know and cant go into detail, is my view therefore any less relevant?
