  • why must we change what dont need fixing???

Last season had its ups and downs, but our stand out regular big game performers and consistent players were Kenny Derry and Hill. In our championship winning year they dragged us through games and made sure we grinded out results to go up. Now this season has ended and the trio have performed brilliantly again. These are the type of players we need to base the club upon and build in the right manner with them setting the standards for balanta taarabt etc to learn from and add players such as cisse and zamora/johnson to gradually improve. Why the hell are we going to let warnock and leeds rob us of these model proffesionals when kenny is better than any other england goalie(all of whom are s h i t e) other than hart !!!. Sometimes i wonder if we realise how fortunate we are.

It's easy to look back now that we've survived. But Kenny and Derry had plenty of poor games throughout this season.
If you start being sentimental over what players have achieved in the past then we will never move on.
      Barton is Innocent ok....

I thought derry although getting caught out pace wise a couple of times had some great games aka wigan home, kenny against arsenal was outstanding and the saves against them man city and tottenham were top class do they really have nothing left to offer ?( coaching roles) Hill was poty and fans so that says it all. I worry sometimes people feel a unneccesry need to replace good players with mediocre 'bigger names' that the media are desperate for us to believe are superior just because they represented england (or similar) at some stage, what would most qpr fans of eight years ago want now?. Certainly not robert 'more clubs than tiger woods' green.
success comes easier when built upon past triumphs.

Some decent points by the OP to be fair. Aged 36, Frank McLintock had a blinding season in the top flight for us in '75. Its always easy to write players off to early.

only time will tell toptop. if you look back at the end of the window and still feel that derry, kenny etc would still get in your 25 then you case for keeping them will be vindicated. lets not forget that they were warnocks buys and hughes will want to stamp his own name on the team. kenny who i like has had an average season and is a position we need to improve on-which begs the question....would he be happy playing second fiddle??? i don't reckon he would.

i don't think playing second fiddle and fighting for your place comes into it with modern pros .another move = more money

to stay competetive nowdays in any field you have to move with the times, football is no diff.Sentiment and a fondness for players is great but have to constantly move and change things, its just the way it is.PS anyone else caught in that ####ing traffic jam on the thames today, wish id took the M25 now.

Competition for places would be good but lets get players who will improve us! big names or not al habsi, vorm, for a keeper. Getting Guthrie and taiwo and diakite would be great Probably end up with

Whoever we might bring in, we have to give them a chance to settle before season starts.

Fans love dishing out coaching jobs, like we are some kind of retirment home. We have plenty of coaches, all with their badges. Are you going to pay the extra wages? As for the McLintock comparison, he had been one of the best defenders in the country, it wd be like signing a Rio or (dare I say it) ageing John Terry. Fans cant have it both ways of expecting a mid-table finish and a side of old Championship warhorses. That said think Hill has another year as a handy squad player.

Kenny has been poor for 90% of the season with many on here listing City as one of his better games forgetting their first was a basic error, with the second a continuing fault of his that he doesn't come for anything in his 6 yard box. To be honest even for their third he was beaten at his near post. Poor goalkeeper can and willdo much better. Like both Derry and Hill as players but if they are still first choice this coming season it will be another relegation fight for us, squad players possibly but not regular starters

Agree, Kenny was awesome in the promotion season, but this season he has been suspect on a few occasions. I don't think it's unreasonable to look for an upgrade.

Derry was very good this year, and I would not be upset to see him in the 25 again. I would not blame him if he chosses to go and play first team football at Leeds. Will always have my respect for being a great servant to us. Legend tbf.
