  • What has Bartons 12 match ban achieved

Barton is a petulant idiot ,that said all this talk of sacking him is just crap first of all why should T F loose 7 mil to sack him surely an innocent party gets penalised that way.
In after thoughts of of the incident what did Barton actually do apart from throw a tantrum who got hurt nobody! did Teves walk away scot free yes !
The FA have acted in their usual power hungry way a better option to deal with Barton imo would be a 3 match ban with a 9 match suspended on the condition he did soscial work twice a week once at the Jack Izard school for disabled kids and once a week with the Rangers Tiger cubs for 45 weeks
Would it make a descent person out of Barton maybe maybe not but one thing is for sure the FA's punishment wont do anything to alter Barton

Bloody ridiculous. Its things like this that have ruined football.

A lot worse went on in the 80's and 90's

I think hes entertaining. Ok not a role model but enjoyable to watch. You just never know what your going to get with him.

    **** the FA

ben thatcher got a lot less. Ok it was just the one incident but how on earth? Di canio got less for 'assaulting' a ref. This is purely for the media and because of who Joey is. It is a shame. I can see him being released to somewhere liek west ham under allardyce and playing excellently.

His punishment was based on his reputation only the FA can reach these descisions
could it happen in a court of law ? nooo

Why wouldn't it happen in a court? Once a court has determined a guilty verdict it can, and does, rely upon antecedents (a persons criminal history) in determining a sentence.
Isn't that what they have done? Found him guilty (surprise, surprise) and sentenced him based on his actions and his previous history. If he was a clean skin he most likely would have got a lesser punishment.

QPR can appeal this ban and probably get it reduced by 50% with the other games suspended (activated if he gets sent off again for violent conduct).

Sorry, but Barton made contact with Tevez's head. And he made contact with Aguerro's leg. And (whilst i am not convinced he was trying to headbutt Kompany) if they found him guilty of attempting (the football laws allow for punishment when an attempt is made to kick etc) to do it then they have every right to punish him based on the offence and his history. Barton made world headlines (the first time i can remember a QPR player making the sports pages in Australia) for all the wrong reasons when we could have made it as the team that determined the Premiership and had great publicity around the world. I think i know which one TF would rather have.

Does sending people to gaol make them better people and stop them committing crimes in future? Does fining speeding drivers stop them all from speeding?
They are called penalties for a reason. They are not called magic fixes.
But to try and answer your question the way i think you would like me to answer is; what it may achieve is an out for Fernandes as none of us knows the details of Bartons contract or what might legally provide for a dismissal of him. And if that was achievable and that option was taken by TF who do you think would sign Barton, A) on as much cash as he gets now, B) without strict disciplinary clauses and C) without dismissal options for reckless behaviour/bringing club into disrepute etc?
Perhaps that may change his behaviour, but maybe not.
What options do the FA have in relation to this? Do they have the legal authority to punish someone by way of community service? Unless its in law you can't make a person do it. Maybe counselling? Unless a person does it willingly the evidence shows that it is a waste of time - barton seems unwilling to admit a problem therefore it probably would be a waste of time.
Maybe the FA are saying to owners of football clubs, these are your players and you need to control them probably through clauses in contracts. Therefore, TF may have learnt an expensive but valuable lesson. So maybe the FA have acted with common sense.
All i know is that the club i support has been dragged through the crap because of his behaviour at a time when it could have increased its supporter base in a worldwide televised game. Everybody loves an underdog story but not when the underdog behaves like a p...k.

IT's been said and is common knowledge the power is in the player's hands ,if you want me[ do it my way] Warnock had a week to conclude many deals back in august I would gues lots of details were missed ,But the question remains do you believe this punishment has any chance of achieving anything ,I dont want you give me an opinion I want I want your's

Although it pains me to say this,TF or his advisors must have been aware of Barton's reputation,so to offer him a four year contract at £80K a week was not the best bit of business TF has ever done I'm sure.Normally a very astute and likeable business man,I don't think he had his thinking hat on the day he signed JB.

Luis Suarez's racial abuse is 10x far worse and he got 8 games. Just goes to show what a joke the FA really are!
