It's comments like this that create this myth. Until this incident what "bad press" has he created for QPR.....? He was wrongly and ridiculously sent off against Norwich, and done nothing else. There was no consistent bad press.
This should be treated as an isolated incident, in which he lost it and was stupid and naive, however, it was imo still nothing compared to any career threatening challenge you see every week.... Nobody was even hurt by what he did. The bark was far worse than the bite, but unfortunately everyone is getting carried away.
Also they all drag up incidents that must have been 5 years or more ago and say things like he never changes, always doing stuff etc... well i've not seen it myself bar this one incident where he felt hard done by and reacted, after being punched, so i would suggest he has changed a lot over those years.
He should be backed.
Also to try and put some perspective on this.... Ballotelli must have had more incidents this season alone than Barton's had over the last 5 years, including a shocking tackle recently where he could've broken Song's leg, yet went unpunished for it, even after review, in a game he was sent off in and arguably could've been sent off 3 times, whilst ending a career..... Yet his ban was nothing compared to "repeat offender" Barton. Laughable!
Best post on the matter yet
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.
"QPR Boss Wants to Axe Joey Barton, Starts By Stripping Thug of Captaincy and Banishes Him to Reserves"
......just infers a witch hunt
"Joey Barton will no doubt take to twitter and adopt his usual stance of ‘denial and blame dodging’ before digging out a quote from a book or author he has never read. The QPR midfielder is his own worst enemy, which is some going given that pretty much the entire known universe can’t stand the site of him.
Clearly it will be hard to find a buyer for the 29 year old given that he will miss a huge portion of the season with his well deserved 12 match ban. Perhaps a move abroad beckons?"
pretty disgusting and maybe if the media and the FA were banned from international football for 12 games our boys would have a much better chance to accomplish something in the euro's
Sack, can he be relied on to stay on the pitch during important matches?
Yes he can be relied on. Until that moment he hadn't done anything all season to even look close to being sent off.... Even the Norwich game when he was sent off he did nothing wrong, and it was a very bad decision... what a surprise the FA failed to overturn that decision though!
It's comments like yours that compound the myth that is "joey Barton is such a wrongun and liability and we must get rid for the benefit of QPR's future"
Utter rubbish.
As Rieger says, Cisse has been more stupid and deserved both red cards he got, and both were avoidable.
Also to all saying Barton's no use to us as he'll miss 1/3 of the season... .well Cisse missed about half our games since he's been with us, and he could most definitely have cost us and resulted in relegation..... amazing how some fans ignore facts and jump on any bandwagon in town.
Sack, can he be relied on to stay on the pitch during important matches?
Of course he can, just as much as any other player.
Can Clint Hill be relied upon not to butt someone?
Can Shaun Derry be relied upon to vanish prior to an opposition player diving?
Can Cisse be guaranteed to stay on the pitch?
As Del has said, this is a witch-hunt, totally exaggerated so called facts.
I'm more concerned about the state of refereeing and the FA's reactions to what have been clear and easily identifiable mistakes in the case of Barton against Norwich and Derry against Man Utd. Unbelievably crass decisions not to overturn both red cards bearing in mind the video evidence there for all to see.
But it's Rangers, so we'll just have to get used to it until they get fed up and turn their attentions to another club.
If not, as big a fine as we're allowed, and make him train with the kids till he's served the suspension. Strip him of the captaincy , ban him from Twitter, and he should be highly visible at every game we play while he's out, especially if we get drawn away to some no-mark Northern shithole in the League Cup.
I don't think other players can expect alan (kick you in the head) shearer, or jug ears lineker, getting so high and mighty about their behaviour yet these di*kheads felt the need to not only #### him off on motd but juggy then starts tweeting about him, yeah that'll really diffuse the situation
