Even if Warnock had kept us up, would he have been able to build upon that? Would Mike Rigg have signed on? Would we have landed the likes of Diakite, Taiwo and Cisse? I'm not so sure and although he'll have my eternal respect and gratitude I wish he'd stop talking about us to the press.

not sure Warnock would have found the quality players huges did to keep us up Diakite Taiwo Onouha. Also dont think Cisse and Zamora would have come under Warnock and Taarabt was better under Hughes also as a previous poster was correct our late home form kept us up

If I were sacked and my successor had performed as his successor had I would feel justified in doing what he has done; it wasn't abusive, it was simply a reminder that his results stack up quite favourably in comparison to MH's, and if he leaves it at that I can't fault him.

A lot of the press coverage (and fans views too!) centred on the assertion that he was clueless as far as the PL was concerned but his results give the lie to that. MH has done no better on average.

The reason TF sacked him was more to do with long term aspirations for the club and on that point his removal was justified, but not purely on results while he was in charge. Respect Neil....

Why was Neil never a prem manager before is the question.

Well done and fair play to Neil. Who knows what Neill could acheived with the right funding.

As I see it, Neil will allways be a QPR legend. He made proud when we were down and out.

His one home win looks good too

At least he picked the right club to beat at home, but a few more home wins in autumn and he would probably still have been here.

I am the biggest fan of Warnock for what he has done, forever a legend, but in hinsight I agree that we probably needed a bigger name manager to attract bigger name players.

Like Warnock and like Hughes... and like Fernandez

Points per game under Warnock - 0.85

Points per game under Hughes - 1.12

Home wins under Warnock - 1

Home wins under Hughes - 6

All of a sudden those 3 away wins aren't looking so great are they Neil?

Can't see that myself. Our home form at the end, an amazing 15 points from 15 in tough games is what kept us up just.... NW couldn't win at home and only a very very lucky win against Chelsea with 9 men ffs was his only victory. If he'd been in charge i think we'd have got a max of 6 points from those 5 home games and gone down by some margin.

In some of the home games under Warnock we seemed to have so much go against us.

With the rub of the green it could of been a lot different.

My point is you can take any set of results in isolation to support your cause, but the fact is there are 38 games in the season and Hughes had a better points per game record than Warnock.

If Warnock had continued to average 0.85 points a game for the rest of the season we'd have finished on 32 points.
