His work rate is good but he's chasing his #### much of the time, his passing is not accurate or well-timed enough often giving the ball away, he never makes the final telling pass, he has no deft touch or subtlety, rarely makes assists. He flatters to deceive.
He has no leadership skills, dividing rather than ruling. Obviously there is no role model.
He is easily replaced. I am sure MH is working on it right now.
He may have fitted in in the 70s, but he doesn't now, and in any case football was **** then compared to now. The club is going forward not backwards.
He's not even hard. Kneeing someone in the back when they're not looking is the act of a coward.
I want to see someone positive, creative, solid, who acts like a decent human being, who can play attractive football, who doesn't behave like a ****.

I like Barton.. I forgive him... He is a good good player and we need players like him as we are still building a moving forward.
I think people forget that we wont be able to attract amazing players unless we spend millions on wages which is stupid.

I remember watching Joey being interviewed on Player after the Stoke game. He kept saying how he couldn't wait for the city game, he seemed very pumped up but slightly unstable with it...it almost turned into a rant...he ended by saying "I'm just quite a peculiar person, but that's me" or words to that effect.
After seeing it I did actually think to myself that he doesn't seem mentally right for what lay ahead at the Etihad....turned out I was right.Last edited by Stanley; 22-05-2012, 10:08 PM.

Barton is a good player, of that there is no doubt.
However (here we go) he is a thug: plain and simple.
You speak here and debate as to what you would do with him, but he could have sent you down if Bolton had stepped up to the plate. I understand that this never happened, but it could have done. What would you all be saying then? He has already said he has earned enough not to worry for the rest of his life - whilst this is true, it hardly smacks of someone who is repentant.
Hate him as a player, and as a human being. How many times must a club give him a second chance? How many times can he apologize? How many times will he be up in front of the FA? How many times will he let his side down? He is YOUR Captain, and sets the worst example to the team, and your young followers.
It has to stop eventually, surely?
EDIT: Who is NDM?

Even if you ignore the he is good/he isn't any good debate, a winning team is made up of characters and personalities that gel and work for each other. Barton is only interested in himself. Nothing he's said in any interview or tweet suggests otherwise. He's his own man, he's too peculiar, always will be. So let him be individual somewhere else.

Thing is, when he is out on the sidelines for so many games is he going to get straight back into the team? And if he isn't, then how is he going to react? That's my issue with keeping him.
Look at the **** he was flinging around at Newcastle. I'd love to give the guy another chance, but he seriously needs to find his 'head'.

Financially we're better off with him on board for reasons given more than once above.
Secondly, he's an excellent bet to have on the bench if there's a specific job to be done - we all know his strengths and weaknesses, and for my money he is capable prem standard in his position, no more than that, but certainly no less.
So from a football and financial point of view there are reasons for keeping him. Yes, he does need shrewd management head wise, and I've no idea whether or not we have back room/management staff capable of giving it. But he is our skipper and the club should be 100% behind him because we are QPR and he is one of us. And he isn't boring, big plus these days.
It amuses me that people go on about his 'crimes'. But far worse goes on behind the scenes: look at the financial background of certain EPL investors. Look at the criminal record of the Blackpool chairman (for example) and the money he is currently extracting from that club. Look at the FA's relationship with Sky. Look at what went on at the other Rangers. And yet people get exercised about handbags. Funny old world.
