I know that a keeper and centre back should be on the shopping list, but when you look at Zamora, Bothroyd, Helga, and DJ you may think that age / lack of EPL class is a serious issue up front.

The boy Rhodes looks a serious prospect. He'll go for around £3m, and he'll go soon, possibly down the road....

Anyone else rate him?

Funny that Huddersfield was rumoured to have turned down £6million for him in January yet you think he'll go for only £3million. Think your a tiny bit off there. If they go up his value will only increase.

could well be, heard there was 3.5m offer in a few days ago which apparently was being taken seriously.... but, like the alleged 6m its all mouth no trousers ie press talk.

I sort of see him as being similar in attitude to Mackie, and he's young. Take Cisse out of the equation for a few games and we'll struggle for goals. The rest of them just aren't up to it, no pace. If investment means letting one or more of the aforementioned go, I'd take that for someone like Rhodes.

Do you all remember all the fuss about Mackail-Smith last season? He only scored 9 goals from 45 league appearances. If we had moved to us, he wouldn't have scored even half of that. Take Taarabt and Bothroyd who spent most of their career in the Championship but struggled in the PL altough Taarabt started to cope in the last couple of games. For a player to suddenly play from League 1 directly to the PL would be gamble. Grant Holt played in League 1, then moved to the Championship and finally see how he impressed in the PL league. I do not think we should move to Rhodes. I would rather Matt Phillips or Thomas Ince.

Jermaine Beckford was another one who couldn't stop scoring in League One for Leeds then moved to Everton and was poor. I'd rather we take a punt on Pierre-Emerick Aubyemang, same age, fee would probably be similar and has 16 Ligue One goals this season as well as 8 international goals for Gabon.

Just checked on Pierre-Emerick Aubyemang in Wikipedia. He scored 16 goals from 45 appearances for Saint-Étienne. Looks good indeed. Felt you seem like have seen him play, haven't you? If anyone close to the club, please pass his name to Sparky. Foreign players are also cheaper than UK based players.
