Very good signing if we pull it off.

The longer Villa don't have a manager in place makes the possibility of signing him more credible...

I would rather Given than Green.

This is the headline in the Irish Independent (where I am at the moment). Given was apparently very upset when Hughes left Manchester City and has indicated he would like a reunion. At the moment he has an injury which he picked up in training. The Independent also says that Kenny is likely to reunited with Warnock.

Without sounding rude to question you but why do you think that?

I thought while a club don't have a manager the players have to wait to see who is manager & then the manager decides what he wants to do?
              Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
              And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

Given is the 2nd best keeper in England for me with only Hart better.....

Cant see it but if there's any chance we should get him as he'd be worth 10 points in a season.

Couple that with the 6/7 points Paddy cost us and we'd be heading for Europe !!!

When I first read about Given I laughed it off as a "no chance" story. But, to be fair, I forgot he played under Hughes at City, so maybe there is some mileage in this.

Another Shotstopper? But so do many regard Habsy to be as well.

Hmmmm! You think he would make that much difference? If so let's get him signed!

We can also go abroad. I.e. look to what Swansea did.

Arsenal are now heavily scouting a goalkeeper from Norway(cough, cough) Kenneth Udjus from Brann Bergen.

Definitely. All top keepers are. The year Newcastle blew their lead in 96 i think it was, Utd only won it because of Cantona and Shmeical won them loads of points, especially the away game at Newcastle that season to allow Cantona to nick the winner.

Back to Given.... put it this way, if he wasn't in their team this season, they would now be heading into the championship i have no doubt. When you put it like that, the fee and 5 year deal he got would seem small change.

He is a lot moe than a shotstopper..... He is for me the complete keeper. The fact he's so good whilst being shorter than your average keeper also speaks volumes about how good he actually is.
