Unless Perone will be in the 25 next year
We didn't use Shittu all season and Gabiddon played a handful of games after Hughes' arrival, so in reality loosing them will make very little difference to the team.

I think the 25 man squad will have a few youngsters in it this season and a core group of players of around 16-18.

Perone will be released or his contract terminated by mutual consent in the next few days I think.

Let's give the manager a bit of credit here. He's not stupid. There will be a good reason for this.

Gabbidon and Hall were always on the bench.

Think we would be heading for disaster if we go into the new season with only Ferdinand and Hill as our recognised CB's.

I reckon a keeper and another CB will be high up on our list of to-buys.

Agree with you there, and Cerny being kept on likely means Kenny will be heading for the exit.

Do you truly believe this will be the case. Hughes clearly said at the end of the season "we will never be in this position again while I'm the manager" - and he sure a hell aint going into the next campaign with the scenario you envisage.
May's not even finished yet, can we save the suicidal posts about lack of signings and squad strength at least until July

Dyer extension is very very strange and makes no sense, he can never play football again due to injury, I can only think he had a clause in his contract that if we stay up he automatically gets another year.

Although the stranger one still is Borrowdale, a 5 year deal and never played.

My bad, I read your post slightly differently and interpreted it as a bit of a wet blanket moment

What do u mean he can't ever play football again due to injury? Course he can, when he recovers from his injury. He's a useful player and, I'm guessing, he is willing to play for (in footballers terms) relatively small salary. Therefore Hughes obviously thinks its worth keeping him on. Who are we to disagree? He sees him daily, knows how's he getting on and knows what ability he has.

                          In hughes we trust.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

                            All is forgiven

Looking forward to seeing who he brings in to fill those vacant defensive spots

I hope I'm wrong and we bring in some quality signings again, but it wouldn't surprise me if we were fairly quiet.

I reckon he'll put Onuoha at CB with Ferdinand and maybe bring in a RB if he's not happy with Young.

But agree with you, we do look pretty thin on the ground in a few positions, especially CB.

This is pretty embarrassing, Kieron Dyer is trending on twitter because of his lack of play last season. Im sure the deal is good for both sides unless it was a vesting option from staying up.
