  • Quote from Hughes

"In the past I have signed Vincent Kompany (Man. City), Christopher Samba (Blackburn) and Moussa Dembele (Fulham). They all increased in transfer value playing in those teams.I am seeking similar quality for QPR. I am excited about what we can achieve here. The players I want to sign need to know we have plans to be a top club. I spent my career playing for big clubs and I want success. I am hungry and ambitious".

To be honest it would be great to unearth some new talent, or players not known here at least. Everyone puts the same old names around, but they are not going to be better for us.

Would be great to discover some talent and multiply their value 10 fold.

Shows you his pedigree in the transfer market when you see the names of them players alone.

He is most definitely in for the long haul & with this guy we've got from Man City (Rigg?) Along with Philip Beard I can see Rangers really going for things. You don't make these kind of appointments to settle for mid table mediocrity.

Think our club could be unrecognizable in a few years. If things work out can see the Rs winning, a few cups, and qualifying for Europe.

Diakite will in a few years time be one of the best Centre midfielders available.

This is the way to go. Not only do you pick up cheap and potentially reap massive profits in the future, but they also have the unkown factor for opposition players when they come up against them.

MH has relied on unearthing gems in the past and also Pardew at Newcastle has done the same to even more explosive effect. They got rid of overated run of the mill seasoned prem players, who were on silly money, such as Nolan and Barton and replaced with better and cheaper... blimey didn't they get £5m for Nolan, spent that on Cabeye and probably pay him less wages when Cabeye is infinitely the better player, and younger. Add to that Tiote, Cisse, took a chance with Ba for free etc.....

You don't need to spend millions in this league and luckilly we're a club that has a manager that knows this. We can make the transfer market work for us, not against us.

Still the QPR we know and love, but gutted when we had to sell them, not quite the same as now.

And a lot more prospect of this happening now given our new academy status, winning the under-18s championship, new training ground etc etc

He's now going to be doing a regular feature here

Mark Hughes will be writing regular columns for Sportsmail. In the first of his dispatches, he talks about his German adventure, the menace of Didier Drogba and Joey Barton's fate.
