  • what do qpr get out of the air asia sponsorship?

as much as i love tf is he just being selfish with the sponsorship?

surely its more exposure for his airline rather than finacial gain for the club?

like gulf air were only sponsors due to being mates with the owners. is it just the same?
i supported qpr in the glory days when chris kiwomya and michael ngonge played up front

It helps tap into a market which brings greater financial reward than any old sponsor.

**** looking sposnor yes but no doubt a clever marketing ploy

What does any team get out of sponsorship beyond the money?

Put it like this in simply terms.

FOR EXAMPLE Binatone sponser QPR, Binatone pay QPR 1million for the sponser on QPR's shirt & that will give Binatone 2million profit (Half going to QPR)

So Tony Fernandes is cutting out the middle man. Financial gain for AirAsia is also financial gain for Queens Park Rangers & Tony Fernandes
          Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
          And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

Publicity. we got them on our shirts, our owner is well-known all over asia for his airline and f1 stuff, and we'll be going there for Pre-season. So more kits and merchandise will be sold over there aswell as here meaning more ££££ and publicity.

I think you have to ask yourself another question. Who exactly was queuing up at the time. He has used his position to get sponsorship for the club and to get air time for Air Asia.

If that helps the club to exposure in a great untapped market for merchandise and a greater revenue stream so be it. Look at other clubs in the top 4 of the PL, they get more revenue this way than ticket money. That is the way this club is going to compete with the big clubs. All part and parcel of TF's longer term plan.

Air Asia will no doubt be paying QPR FC a set sum of money per season.

They will hope that the revenue from doing so will outweigh the cost and they make a profit. It most probably will but there are no guarantees that they won't lose out. Hardly selfish.

What would you prefer, £5 per ticket sold?

TF bought the club to promote his brands , this will off set the cash he has paid for the club over time and also, he gets a premiership club as well.

Yeah but how much is half price ? on a limited budget with the recession and all that , still waiting for 'call me Dave' to sort out the economy
"Steve, do you think 25k is a good option when there are indications that within four years, new stadiums on average have increased attendances of 60%?
For us that would mean around 29k."

Spot on. We have to give him something in return after all. And the healthier he is financially the better.

Besides, once he builds the club up is when there'll be real sponsorship money coming in to consider - right now it's most likely not worth it.
