  • Hughes to Liverpool: Is it possible ?

Just read that Liverpool are going to interview up to 12 candidates, could MH be one of them ? He does seem happy at QPR but might Liverpool be seen as the team that matches that famous ambition of his ? They do say that the Liverpool job is the one job in football you can't turn down, although Brendan Rogers has managed to !!

Not scaremongering, just thinking out loud. What are your views ?

        Imagine the interview...

Ah, come in Mr Hughes, now hten, yuo've got one season to get us into the Champions League and win the FA Cup, otherwise you're sacked. Any questions?

I think the Liverpool Manager's job is a bit of a poisoned chalice at the moment with their current owners.
2011-2013, 2 seasons in the Premiership, 76 games, 14 wins........two years of my life I'll never get back!!

2013/2014 mediocrity topped off with a win at Wembley....

2014/2015 was pretty much the same as 2011-2013.....

        2015/2016, average at best.....

        2016/2017, same old, same old....

        2017/2018, aim low, avoid disappointment!

Its the hope that kills you!

Brendan Rogers was never offerd it, so not sure how he's turned it down exactly.

MH will not leave us as clearly genuinely optimistic about the opportunity to build the club here and he knows if things go well he could be in the job for as long as he realistically wants to be... 10+ years maybe and watch it grow.

Why go to Liverpool where clearly the owners won't settle for anything other than the top 4 cash cow, hence they sacked a club legend against the wishes of most fans. He wouldn't be given time, and as KD spent £100+m last year, i doubt there'll be loads more investment either. As it stands now they are a long way from top 4 so for me anyone who takes it is on a hiding to nothing.

Not in a million years would we give him permission to speak to Liverpool.

Kenny wasn't sacked for results - he was not targetted to get top 4 this season. He was sacked for bringing the club brand into disripute with his handling of the Suarez affair, the lack of leadership it showed with the handshake incident and his extremely bad showing with the media. As well as poor use of club signing funds.

Liverpool is a brand that they are trying to sell more and more into the USA and other markets and Kenny wasn't helping with the PR job.
