  • Rio Ferdinand to QPR?

If I were Rio I'd be blaming Fergie for England exclusion.... Looks like he told Roy he wasn't sure he was up to it physically. Anyone think that could pave the way for him to leave United? Plenty of younger suitors for United CB, and Vidic back in the frame next season... So how about the Ferdinand brothers together at QPR?? What do you think? Could we get him? Would we want him?? Not sure any of of the big clubs would take him (except maybe Tottenham, as per Gallas, and if they're letting King go), otherwise I don't see many other clubs in the Prem willing to pick up his wages...

The more I think about it the more I disagree with you. If there's one position where experience will always be more valuable than youth it's CB. And even if he didn't end up playing many games his value in the dressing room would be huge - dare I say possible immediate club captain? Stick him on a 2yr deal and I'm not sure how we could lose too badly out of it, especially considering the fee would be small. Worst case you're lumped with an expensive coach for two years, but one with 81 England caps, 5 Premier League titles, Sir Les for a cousin and a brother in the team...

For me the question is more would we even have a chance of getting him?

Would rather Chris Samba. He is also a good header in corners and can score.

Another gamble the club does not need to take.
I have supported Rangers for 55 seasons, since March 1969.

We've had this discussion before. I think he's well past his best, lost too much pace, and is injury-prone.

                  Is that what we want?
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

He is well past his best yes, but things are relative. When you consider that at his best he was arguably the best defender in the world, then somoene of that standard when past their best is still a better option than most.

I don't think we'll try to sign him though.

I think we need to bring in the best we can now, not someone who was the best.

                      Coaching role maybe?

                        Unbelievable isn't it?

Someone who has just played 38 games for United, has only just missed out on the England squad..

Nah, not good enough for Rangers.

I can't actually believe any QPR fan would turn their nose up at Rio Ferdinand. If he wanted to come to QPR to see out his last couple of seasons at this level playing along side his brother it would be an absolute no-brainer for us!

I think it's more to do with buying players that last from 5 minutes to a few games and then out for the whole season.

We fans have seen it so many times and our luck is not the greatest.
