Far far from the worst striker weve had. He gets alot more criticism than he is due IMO.

You must be joking. He's not that bad! He's better than Bothroyd! I'm sure next season he'll bang a fair few in for us.

I know this debate has been had a thousand times already, but he really isnt that bad at all.

The job he does up top is a thankless task. If you watch him play his hold up play is very very good and, yes he doesnt score many (surely we all knew that when we signed him anyway?), but he roughs up oppo defences and brings others into play.

I know for some that isnt enough, but IMO, you do need a player like that and we would notice the lack of hold up play if he wasnt there.

I agree with the criticism, however, that sometimes he does look like he doesnt care.

I also think that the fact he came form Foolham meant that some fans were instantly not going to accept ihm as much as if he had come form, say, Aston Villa.

Give him time in a settled side not battling relegation & playing with 10 players half the time. Add in since he has been here we have played counter attacking footy which has meant when he wins it he can hardly look good with several opposition players around him and f all to pass to. Think about it.

Perhaps you should watch him Ted before you spout such garbage. For those that don't think he has done a good job for us this season then you don't really understand football!
Was it you Ted who was trying to persuade us that Shittu up front was a good idea at the start of the season?!!!!
I just get a feeling that Sparky has a bit more of a clue than you!

Zamora's performance against Arsenal was one the best I've seen from a lone striker. He was pure class dominating their CBs. He's been asked to play a hard role and I think he's put a shift in.

I don't know why but the above really made me laugh, each line was a perfectly weighted upper cut
I feel bruised and I wasn't even the intended target

A really unfair post. Especially considering some of the genuine dross we've witnessed over the years from Slade, Bob Taylor, Koejoe to Hulse. The wins we got off Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool etc were ONLY made possible by playing a system that - covering weaknesses - enabled us to pack the midfield to absorb pressure, counter attack and put the forward line responsibility on one man in Zamora who caused plenty of physical problems to unsettle the centre backs.

Hughes played 4-4-2 against Wolves, Sunderland, Blackburn, Bolton and got zero points. Thanks to changing the system we stayed up. I don't think there's many forward in the country who could enable us to play that system, certainly no English ones.

Zamora has shown some poor finishing at times, namely West Brom, but look at his link up play - prime example in the Liverpool game where Zamora holds the play up off Agger, and touches the ball back to the wing for Taiwo to cross to Cisse to head in.

I blew a lot on vodka and tonic, gambling and fags. Looking back, I think I overdid it on the tonic. - The one and only Stanley Bowles

Actually think he has done well. Works hard off the ball, holds it up, isn't afraid to get get stuck in. Exactly what you need in that lone role. Yes he has missed a few but all strikers do. Apart from added time look at City strikers for instance.

Really looking forward to next season and think he will play a big part.
