  • Gray claims QPR will ditch Barton after antics against Man City

Andy Gray believes Joey Bartons’s QPR career is finished after the midfielder stooped to a new low on Sunday.

With his side fighting for Premier League survival, Barton was sent off for elbowing Carlos Tevez before kneeing Sergio Aguero and then attempting to headbutt Vincent Kompany as he made his way from the pitch.

Barton has admitted his actions after being red-carded were an attempt to get a City player sent off and Gray claims QPR boss Mark Hughes will not stand for the 29-year-old’s latest display of petulance.

“Joey Barton is a lucky boy that QPR didn’t go down otherwise he would be suffering the wrath of the QPR fans today,” said Gray.

“If someone in your team who you support, who you spend your money week in, week out to go and see, did that in a game such as that, when your Premier League future could be dependent on it, what can you say about it?

“Mark Hughes should get rid of him and he will get rid. You cannot have that. When one of the lads said get one of their players sent off and even it up, he actually went out and cynically tried to do that. He goes and clubs Aguero, who has got his back to him. Real brave Joey.

“Remember this is the Joey Barton who collapsed in a heap at Newcastle when he was playing against Arsenal when nobody touched him. He then tried to put his head in on Vincent Kompany. I know who my money would be on in that one and it wouldn’t be Joey.

"Everyone deserves a second, third, sometimes fourth chance but you have got to take into account the context of what game he was playing in, what it meant to the supporters, and what Tony Fernandes had done in taking him there."

Passion runs high in football. IF the ref had given us the goal at Bolton, IF the FA had deducted points from us last season, IF this, IF that. We DIDN'T go down. IF doesn't play any part in football.

Joey knows he was an idiot and will miss the first 2 months of the new season. After that I hope he is back adding steel in our midfield when we have midfield injuries & suspensions.

Bottom line question. "Did TF know JB's reputation before he spent big money on him?"

We all KNOW the answer!!! Go away Gray we all know about your reputation too so will let you off knowing the pillock you are ;-)

I suppose the QPR hierarchy will look closely into whether to keep him or usher him out, I understand passion but he's likely not to play for most of august through to September and with MH not wanting us to be in the position we were in last season again, then can we, as a club have another season of unpredictability on whose going to turn up.

Also it's a new era and will certain players we wish to attract be put off by his presence when they could go to other clubs. He caused problems at city, toon and appears to have done so at ours in NWs reign, it's a problem.

Also I think TF and AB are nice blokes and a different type of owners compared to their outwardly ruthless predessors. They own big businesses, do they wish to be tainted by say what happened on Sunday, TF was sitting next to the Sheikh and probably could have been a perfect day but then it all kicks off and that is what (rightly or wrongly) the media have zoomed in on in relation to QPR. Just embarrassing for the geezer, and powerful/rich geezers don't like being embarrassed.

I really think JB may of overstepped the mark (the sending off was unjust and it was handbag stuff) but his reaction afterwards especially bringing in other QPR players and also the twitter rages against (like it or not) England legends (Big ears anyway) does bring the clubs reputation into question especially as captain, and like it or not TF and co have big plans for us, we are no longer as most other clubs are aware, the paupers of W12, we are going places, the question is are we going places with JB.

Gray is spot on.I can't believe that 60% of the Barton poll want to keep him.The man is bad news and always has been. Those who voted to keep him must have short memories.Barton has a catalogue of violence over the years and leopards don't change their spots. His family are hardly squeaky clean and anyone who remembers young An thony Walker who died in 2005 will know what I mean. From my point of view, getting rid of Barton would elate me as much as signing a star striker.
