Age limit on new signings?

Anyone think the club could do with setting a general limit on the age of signings, free transfers excluded? Obviously there might be exceptional circumstances, but signing a 31-year old Bobby Zamora on a two and a half year deal for 6 mil doesn't seem like sensible business to me. Everyone we signed last season was over 26 bar Onuoha and Diakite.

I suspect some of the signings were stop-gap to try and keep us up. We were pretty desperate for new players and agents probably found they could screw us on behalf of their clients.
