Now consider this little list and tell me if their clubs threw out the players concerned.

Paul Davis of Arsenal - Glenn Cockerell attack
    Roy Keane - Haaland
Eric Cantona - Kung Fu kick
David Beckham sending off for England for kicking a player
Billy Bremner v Kevin Keegan charity shield fight
Ian St John knockout punch v Spurs

There's a million other incidences in the game but you don't see supporters trying to hang one of their own players. What Joey did was mild compared to Cantona, but did the fans get on his case? Did Fergie get shot?

I'm not interested in all this 'family club' PC nonsense. I want players that are wiling to get stuck in who don't tolerate any nonsense. Those who think he should be sacked, I have to wonder if any of you have actually played the game. if you had, you'd know not to put up with someone having a dig at you.

We know the FA don't like us. We know teams don't like coming to LR because it's a hostile environment, we know refs cheat us, we know the media don't like us, and our response to all this? Let's kick our captain around. Feel better?

I liken this season and our team to the old Wimbledon's crazy gang. A more un-PC team you'll never find, but they all stuck together in the face of some serious hostility. How dare this little club challenge the elite? It's the same with us.

So stop kicking our captain. Love him or hate him, he wears the shirt and plays with passion. I'd rather have him in my team than some of the cheating ****bags in the EPL.

I bet all the knockers love Tony Blair and New Labour.....
Sorry mate ... But with the exception of Paul Davis (difficult to draw comparisons with Ian St John)

The others were world class footballers !!

I'm not saying it makes there actions right ...that's not the argument here !!

Joey Barton isn't on the same planet talent wise as those listed above . Also the others were leaders and INSPIRED those around them !! Joey Barton is not an inspirational leader . He is a disruptive influence on the club and those associated with it .

Dress it up however you want but Joey Barton is an averagely talented footballer who had a few decent games towards the end of our campaign . I have sung his name till my lungs are bursting but only coz he's on the pitch with 10 others around him BUT if I was supporting another club and Barton was available on a free for £ 20 k a week I wouldn't want him anywhere near my club !!

The club won't (can't afford to) get rid of him, he'll probably get a 12 game ban which means he shouldn't be in the 25 man squad for first half of the season and after that he will struggle to get back in the team!

People seem to forget that there are footballers who react like normal human being not some drama queen.
Regardless of who he is if you was punched and kicked what would you do? Stand still and ring the police? I think not you are going to be pissed give the guy a clout that is most people's instant reaction footballers are not immune to this !!!!

I don't think so. He always seems "on a level". I think, above all, he displays the symptoms of Narcissistic Personality Disorder and some other Psychopathic tendencies.

Problem is he is the captain. I totalyl agree. Punch me in the back of the head. Even slap me and I'd react. Would be stupid to do so but it's natural. This is just further fire to add to people who made up their mind about someone years ago. Shame people can be that ignorant. Either way I want him in the team. Not as captain though. He has got the passion and the motivation but can't lead by example. Not with the ambitions we should have.

How about a pay rise for him and some sort of celebratory statue in front of the ground for his inspired display of forward-thinking leadership under pressure? Maybe JB, with a copy of Proust in one hand and a Blackberry in the other?

                  ffs

Feel v torn about Joey. I actually think he has quite a lot more going for him than many footballers, who only seem interested in a big night out in their Lambo and the latest WAG. Its pretty clear he comes from an incredibly tough background. Jamie Mackie is a polite, good natured bloke who grew up in relative affluence in Surrey. Barton didn't. Further Barton has used his leisure to read some books and try to improve his mind. Yet he is also clearly "damaged goods" and is harming the club's reputation. He might also be a divisive figure in the dressing room, tho' that is only rumour.
Whatever Hughes/ Beard Fernandez decide I hope they make their decision on what is right for QPR, both in footballing and financial terms, and don't feel bounced into making a decision by the likes of Alan "I'm so gormless I just repeat whatever the last bloke said" Shearer.

I am struggling to agree with this heros status that some are trying to give to barton.

his actions on sunday are completely and utterly inexcusable and had it led to us being relegated then i am sure most on here would be hanging effigies of him from there front doors like beckham!.

for the second time this season a reaction by one of our players to a violent act committed by the other team has resulted in us being punished. had barton gone down under the assault by tevez it would have been a completely different situation with city down to 10 men!

i really don't care if he plays for us again..he is costing us money and points.

next season a midfield of diakite and faurlin will do for me

If my Auntie had balls........We didn't go down, If Clint's goal stood at bolton, or SWP's v WBA had not been chalked off wrongly, we would not have been in this position anyway, so ifs and buts mean nothing

Ok, you're entitled to your opinion, but I trust you will apply this to EVERY single one of our players who gets booked or sent off as a result of reacting to a violent act? If you were a Liverpool fan, would you have wanted to get rid of Andy Carroll for his reaction to a bad tackle? should all players be sacked by their clubs if they do the same thing as Joey?
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.
