All the hype over this is getting ridiculous. He made a big mistake by reacting to provocation initially yes.... But all those berating the aftermath reaction and slating him due to the occasion and being stupid etc, bear this in mind. I think he only lost it because it suddenly hit him what he'd done and what it meant given the occasion, and he thought sh1t I've let the team down. His logic in that heated scenario, as he's admitted since, was to try and provoke a reaction from one of them to level things up again.
If this is true, and not just talk, then he did it with the right intentions, to somewhat redeem his actions for the team. He knew what would happen to him and the press would have a field day and the FA throw the book at him. It was a crazy example of trying to take one for the team like an obligatory yellow card for stopping and opposing break on the half way line.
He's apologised to the team and will learn, but should not be bombed out. We need good players as don't have the luxury of massive depth quality so we'd be shooting ourselvs in the foot to do so.
Also to all those fans saying he let us down and cost us this and that, did you cheer Cisse when he scored? The fact is, regardless of how well we played yesterday, nobody realistically banked on us picking up points there as we had no right to do so. Cisse getting red against Wolves definitely cost us a guaranteed 3 points..... Each gane is worth the same, the occasion irrelevant. So anyone saying he risked our future, they need to say that to cisse also....
I back him, but get him some therapy sessions if need be. Be seen to do something positive from this, but don't boot out one of our best players as it won't do us any favours.Last edited by Del; 14-05-2012, 09:59 PM.
