  • Bolton's away form the facts!

Just put up text, and there jumping out at me,..Coyle takes heart from away form.So i thought i'd go to their offish and have a look at this much vaunted away record, and here are the facts.
Yes they have won 6 away from home, the 1st game v us, then their 2nd win was Wigan away, in Oct, Before they won at Blackburn in December.
They then picked up a creditable win at Everton in early Jan, the 4th to be exact, and then had to wait until march 31st for their 5th win, Wolves away, and the last win as you will remember was a couple of weeks ago v Villa.
So 5 of their 6 away wins this season have been against fellow bottom 6 clubs,
not quite as impressive as they like us to think imo.

that makes me feel a bit better! TBH i very much doubt we will get anything at City - but Stoke, althoguh hard to play against are certainly beatable - they are pretty rubbish. I have to say I am extremely nervousand fear the worst. gettign over the line will be a massive achievement and relief, but going down would be devastating

Dando mate all i've heard since sunday is boltons away record blah blah.
Yes they could win at Stoke but this away record they're grasping to ain't that formidable by any means, 1st game versus us they scored a spectacular goal through cahill, but the next 2 were an own goal and a deflected shot.
As i say good win at Everton, as we did, but the rest Wigan were in an awful run, as were BR, and then wolves and Villa at the end of the season well they have both been awfull too, so i hoping for a Gerry Francis,Peter Crouch double act to inspire stoke to a victory on sunday.

Stoke at the Brittania are a very hard nut to crack, hence none of the top sides have won there this season. I don't expect Bolton can go there to win either. Logic could go either way, thinking Bolton will really up their game as do or die, or they will suffer due to added pressure needing a win....

Many say Stoke have nothing to play for, well i don;t agree. They have less to play for granted, but they will want to win for their fans, who they love and feel help them loads when at home by creating a tough atmosphere, so will want to give them a send off with a win. They will also want to finish with as many points and as high a position as possible becasue it's worth additional revenue which does make a difference to a club like Stoke. Finally, there may be players playing for a new contract in the summer or to try and get noriced for Euro's selection, such as Crouch.

coyle is a gobby ch@nt who is trying to convince himself that they will win

from what i saw of stoke on sunday that will not be an easy one for them and with an estimated £750.000 per position up the table stoke will want to win it .............................

Good post Del, like to think you're right, if stoke win and norwich, swansea, and sunderland don't, they could jump 3 places to 11th, that's gotta be worth some dosh to them.

As it is a one off game Bolton are capable of winning at Stoke BUT I firmly believe the Gerry Francis and Peter Crouch connection will have the Stoke players up for it and for that reason along with Bolton's supposed injury list, I think Stoke will break their end of season hoodoo and failing that will draw the game......going to be nervous though.

QPRdave - I see what you are saying, but Im not talking about Boltons away form. More to the fact that Stoke are pretty rubbish. Ive never seen a premiership side hoof the ball so much - its a joke. Their physical side to them is very strong, but ability wise they seem very poor, which worries me the most

Should be pointed out that a win for Stoke could be worth an additional £2.25M in prize money for finishing higher in the league.

Especially to a club like Stoke... i mean imagine how many towels they could buy to lay around the pitch in readiness for their long throws....

To be fair to Stoke though, they are better than that and i think their league position has sufferd for playing about 50 games wiht the Europa leauge also, and lost some game after long away trips etc.

It will not be a walk in the park for Bolton.

My only slight concern is that if any team can go toe to toe with Stoke for rubbish lump it style football, it would be Bolton.
