  • Another Spin On This - Hopefully Positive

Hi all, very rarely post, but follow the board. Been a rough nite for sure and like most of you I was shattered by that result, and of course it does make survival that much harder. With regard to Bolton first, who knows, they might still go into another tailspin. Just hoping they don't win on Saturday.

As for Villa they are just awful, but I would not put money on them losing their last 3 games. Who knows though, anything is possible.

Now for the positive. Maybe a long shot but certainly very possible ?

Wigan: We have to pray they slip up against Newcastle who also have everything to play for and are in good form. It is possible. One would though expect them to beat Wolves on the last day.

Blackburn: I think they have to be odds on for the drop. One would expect/hope they lose at Spurs and Chelsea. We do have a 3pt and goal diff edge over them too.

So, all we would need then is for Blackburn to beat Wigan at home which would leave us safe on goal difference if we get 3 pts against Stoke and nothing else. If we somehow got a point at the **** and Wigan also got just a point from the Newcastle/Blackburn games we would still be fine.

I know it's all ifs and buts and who the hell knows how this will all end up. At least the above is another scenario where we might still only need 3 pts to avoid the drop. Well it cheered me up just a bit. Hope my math was correct ! Thoughts on ?

Beat or draw with Chelsea and we are safe, that's what I reckon......

All I know is that none of my scenario's are coming true, it's doing my head in!

I think it will go till the last day and we have Man City away... how many they lost at home?

The odds are that it may very well come down to that. If that were the case let's just hope City have nothing to play for, that the title race is over. Like everyone else this is all doing my head in big time ! For a short while there it looked as if 35pts might even be enough. That one flew out the window pretty quickly.

Don't really see villa winning any of their last 3. WBA A Spuds H Norwich A and don't think Blackburn will overtake us with their run in so a win v stoke & I still think we will be safe

midweek games/games in hand always throw up diff scenarios as we're looking prior to certain teams having played.
Bolton, wigan and villa all play on saturday - we'll be in a much better scenario to guestimate what happens on saturday evening

the teams are at the botton (including us) because they lose games. why are we all confident that any of us will win games. if we all draw our games to the end of the season then, we - ladies and gentlemen - are premier league next season.

the teams around us aren't any good either. it's a lottery at the moment, but a statistitions dream come 19.00 sunday evening.

wouldnt say its given, but after our recent home form youve got to feel slightly positive

I have a niggling worry also. The fact is apart from Swansea, we were not expected to win any of our recent home games so had less pressure. Against Stoke, everyone is now saying we will win, are expectant and that brings a pressure with it....

I would hope and still expect us to beat them, but it's not a given by any stretch. I also think our players play better ina football match against teams that play properly, as per all the last 4 wins.... Stoke play very direct football and we could get unstuck.

Also ref the other teams someone mentioned Wigan will beat wolves last day.... i'm not so sure. Wolves are gone and by then will be playing with no pressure at all and just for pride, whereas Wigan may have to win to survive.... massive pressure. I can see Wolves winning that myself.

Stoke is by no means a certainty, nothing is. It will I suspect be a very difficult and nerve wracking game. The only certainty I think, and who really knows for sure, is that we will probably have to beat them to have any chance of staying up. Can't really see Wolves doing us any favours on the last day, but again, who knows, the world has gone crazy. Just my opinion.

Exactly... You know what's going to happen now?

Beat Chelsea and lose against Stoke or draw at Chelsea, lose at Stoke and beat City. :drunk:
