  • Plea to the negative brigade

Hopefully you have now seen that we do have a decent team capable of beating a lot of top teams - at least at home. We've beaten too many clubs competing for Champions League football for it to be a fluke. You have also hopefully seen how positive support combined with positive play wins games.

Now I wd dearly love us to snatch a point at Chelsea and its a good time to be playing them and they might rest a lot of players. BUT it is clearly going to be v tough. We haven't been good on the road and lets face it, last time they played at Stamford Bridge they beat the best team in the world.

So I wd just ask that if we don't get anything out of the game, plse, plse don't go back to your wrist slitting "where did it all go wrong" threads, picking on individual players or the manager etc. Instead plse just say "oh well, lets unite behind the team and get three points against Stoke." That is the really vital game with far and away our best remaining chance of gaining three more points. So whatever happens against Chelsea, even a big defeat, we must keep the good spirit at Loftus Rd going for that match.

    Cheers.

BTW, my post was not intended as a dig against any individual. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Just wanted to make the point that now is not the time to voice negativity.

spot on post sial, but I fear that the wrist slitters will be back again with avengance IF the Chelsea result is a loss - probably the same ones who were heaping praise on the team and MH yesterday! Fickleness at its worse.

I disagree. Would much rather the whiners did their bleating on here than at games and produced the same atmosphere as we did last night in the remaining 3 games. Forums are designed for debate, conjecture and letting off steam and with us rangers fans being fickle and hard to please would much rather the spleen vented on here than at games. Might even reignite a couple of messageboards too!!

Good post but if we do get a 'big defeat' as you call it we just have to keep the goal diff down so as it could all go down to that at the end. imo we can take something from this game though.

who knows, anything can happen. we have certainly seen that over the past 10-15 games for instance. red cards, surprising wins against top teams, siege mentality support at home....add into that all the twists and turns of a relegation dogfight...one thing is for certain, the next 3 games are going to be epic one way or another!
                      come on you r's!

Stainrod - you've posted a couple couple of gems recently up on here. def agree.
we've taken a good number of points in our run-in, and as you say off Champions League opposition.
we're doing well and must fight hard to get something out of the next three games. will be tough, but was never going to be easy!

Fair enough, good post Stainrod. Problem is, most likely to stay up we will need 38 points (although I acknowledge 37 might be enough). If City can still mathematically win the league when they play us, we have next to no chance of picking up a point or three there. So..we probably need a point or more at Chelsea. If we draw or obviously if we win, the odds are we will stay up. We are due an away win, and it would be very, very sweet. We also have a team that is probably capable of it now (winning at the ****). A point and its 60-40 in our favour (provided Bolton/Wigan drop significant points by the time the weekend is over) which is very likely especially in Bolton's case. My (negative, but realistic fear) is what it was a few weeks back: that its going to be too little, too late even though we clearly now have a side capable of more than holding our own in this division. If our season had 6 more games to run instead of 3, I'd have no doubts we would stay up. Mind you, I thought the season was over after we drew at home to Everton. Never expected to beat L'Pool, Arsenal & Spurs for a moment-9 points when I expected just 1 pt. That's football for you!

have to agree with bushkangaroo i think wolves will end 23 points blakburn 32 points then unfortunatly us with 37 points wigan 38 and bolton 40 realy hope i am wrong with my bolton and wigan preditions but i an see bolton 3 wins a draw and a lose and wigan with a win draw and a lose
Dyslexic so please don't feel the need to correct my spelling mistakes as I really don't give a **** and before you say use spell checker if it is spelt right / wright but not in context spell check is useless

The good news is by the time we play Chelsea Bolton will have played twice. So, Hughes will know just how important the points are at Chelsea. If Bolton lose to Villa and Sunderland and Blackburn lose then he knows we can either rest key players at chelsea or go for a draw
