  • QPR Squad

Out of curiousity, how many of us would have said at the start of last season that Burnley had a better squad than QPR? I think they did it with average players but great management and great team work. Your thoughts?

You are dead right, The Clarets imo last year were a eam of average players and had a manager who wasn't really someone you would of expected to do the business. But when a club gets everything right on and off the pitch then who knows what can happen. Unfortunately Carlisle was one of their key players both in defence (obviously) but scoring goals as well, still pees me off though.
I blew a lot on vodka and tonic, gambling and fags. Looking back, I think I overdid it on the tonic. - The one and only Stanley Bowles

to be honest Burnley were and still are an average team - but Owen Coyle is not an average guy - very under rated - they played good football and got the breaks and those results against Prem teams would've spurred them on

            Average?

With players like Eagles, Paterson, Elliot, Carlisle, Rodriguez, Blake, McCann, Jenson, Duff, Alexander and Caldwell in their squad...???

That looks far from average to me.

They had a very able squad and also an up and coming manager with a very good record. Burnley were becoming a force in the CCC in the previous season to the one just gone. Shrewd buys and loans like Andy Cole started them on the way.

Spot on Benny, apart from Eagles they had no real "star names" but they were/are a very good team with very good players.

Probably get stuffed in the PL though
