It cracks me up some peoples views on things. Anton was equally at fault for Bentner's goal as he was his man and he lost him. Taiwo should have also reacted but the striker got between them both so not his fault as he couldn't get in enough. Boltons first goal was almost identical, ie, CB's leave player un marked in the centre of the goal and the LB, then traore, couldn't get across to cover quick enough and ended up taking the blame!

Out of interest ref that Sunderland game, I assume you want to bomb Onouha out also after his shocking attempt at a headed clearence with no pressure whatsoever led to their 2nd goal....? That was a million times worse that the first goal.

Some fit it, some dont. For me; Taiwo really come into his own, looks solid at the back no whe's settled in.

Agree Matty. He has been superb the last few weeks, and that Sunderland game he was the best of a bad bunch in defence, regardless of his part responsibility for their first goal.

Some people get a scapegoat as you say, and nothing will change their opinion. He has been excellent defensively, yet many still suggest he can't defend.... HE contained Walcott when Arsenal and he was on fire, then Valencia, who again was on fire got very little from him. Those were the sort of defensive performances we knew he was capable of after seeing that Robben video where he, one of the best wingers in the world, was well and truely kept in Taiwo's pocket.

Some people will never be convinced.

Add to that the fact we know he delivers fantastic crosses, excellent accurate passing to the front men for quick breaks, not random hoofs, plus he can score either from open play or a Free kick and he is starting to prove to be a very complete player.

          He's not a 'scapegoat', I just think he's crap

Didn't realise you weren't allowed to criticize a player !

For Sunderland away he was 100% at fault imo, they all shifted across and he failed to even jump. Stood there like a lemon and watched Bendtner have an empty goal to head into. Yeah Onuha wasn't great but at least he hasn't cocked up on numerous occasions. With Tawio I think of Villa away where he didn't close the man down, I think of the first 20 minutes of United where he kept slicing the ball.

Since joining us I've kept a real close eye on him...his positional sense is diabolical. Yes he had a good game against Arsenal but for me he looks like a mistake waiting to happen.

But of course...he's just a scapegoat.

You sure about that... I can think of plenty of times. But as you refer to the Villa away game, how about the fact he let Bent have a far too easy free run in front of him in the 6 yd box for a tap in.

Anyway, i'm not here to lambast any player, especially the defence who have started to look the part, but the point is, they have all made mistakes some worse than others, and i'd say Onouha has made the biggest clangers, but it's just opinions eh.

Initially Taiwo looked out of his depth, but he has dramatically improved in recent weeks. Thought he was excellent against Arsenal, Man United and Swansea. Not so good against West Brom, but he certainly wasn't the only one who produced a below-par display at The Hawthorns. Not sure how he can be blamed for events at Sunderland given that the entire team was absolutely abysmal...

If the ball didn't come into the box then it wouldn't have been an issue.

He's improved since then....but looks hardly convincing imo.

                      Guess its all about opinions.

Not really the point though is it... defenders need to deal with what happens, ignoring it and saying the ball shouldn't have come in is irrelevant.

That's like excusing a keeper who fumbles a dolly shot into the net because a defender shouldn't have allowed the striker to get a shot in in the first place.

Always makes me laugh how quick some are to slate players who have come from abroad.

Diakite and Taiwo both the target of blame/abuse when they arrived - fact is when you come to play in the Prem for the first time, it takes time to adjust to the English game.

It's like if you were to move to a different country, away from your culture, family and friends. You won't adjust to how things work straight away and never make any mistakes.

Always better to jduge players after at least 10 games, and not 10 minutes in my opinion.

Really happy with Taiwo's performance today - seems to be steadily improving.

ello abuse? Do me a favour, its called an opinion. Can't remember people complaining at Diakite either.

And fair play to our Tawio....had a good game today.
