  • Positive rumour RE: Matt Connolly

This was posted on the Dot.org site.

Believe me or not, it doesn't really matter as i have no reason to lie but i spoke to one of his mates tonight who again would have no reason to lie.

Anyway apparently Wolves, Newcastle and West Brom all came in for Matt in the summer with Wolves putting in a £5m bid for him which was rejected by the club and Matt. Matt is supposed to be very happy at QPR and even though he's an arsenal fan is still 100% sure he made the right move. He has no intention of leaving.

Under Sousa he was meant to be being trained up to move into central midfield and was doing separate training sessions with a midfield coach. This seems to have stopped under JM though. He's said he's naturally a centre back but obviously keeps being played out of position but by the sound of it it's not an issue for him.

I know it's not groundbreaking news or anything but i thought the main point is that we are obviously ambitious enough to be able to reject bids like that of Wolves and a young player like Matt is confident enough with whats going on that he wants to stay. Looks promising for our future if you ask me...

Makes a change someone hearing a rumour with a positive slant.

I cant see QPR turning down £5M for him and I cant see him turning down playing in the Premier League with Wolves.

I agree, very composed player, holding midfielder? not a bad call. I also notice JM did that with Joe Oaster in one of the friendlies and by all acounts he did very well, our future CB pairing could well be these two and both are footballing CB, the future isn't as drab as some would have us believe, + Balanta, Hogan,Lee Browm, Faurlin? I also like the look of German, I think we may well be onto something! Come on you super hoops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

californiahoop - Who was the last CCC player that chose to stay in the CCC, when they had the chance to play in the Premier League ?

              It just wont happen.

                its 100% true.

Think I alluded to it in the summer that a number of clubs had made enquiries

If by xmas we are making no progress I think we might start losing a few. He seems a fairly level headed guy so I suspect an element of truth in the story. I do understand why it's hard to believe, but I just feel it's true.

Shame we are not playing him as centre back.

Sounds nice but really can't see Newcastle bidding any significant sums for anyone so have my doubts.

Would like to see Matt being given a proper run at centre back but of course problem is we are very strong there and unless Barrowdale takes left back role he is best option.

Barrowdale started his career very promisingly so who knows maybe Matt will get a run in what most people seem to think is his best position.

I can see club turning down £5m for him as he has potential to step up to Premiership level. If we do get promoted would only have to spend a fortune on someone probably not as good anyway.

Is Barrowdale related to Borrowdale at all??

He had offers over summer and turned them down and that's true, he's just happy to play and is more than happy to stay at Qpr although he is getting fed up at playing left back
