  • Thoughts on yesterday........

Feeling very frustrated this morning. After the Swansea game my initial thought on seeing the team was that it looked rather negative and so it proved to be. That midfield lacks any real creativity and I'm not sure why Buz was dropped as I thought he could have been the difference yesterday ahead of Derry. We huffed and puffed throughout the game and although we created some chances i though too many players were off the pace. It was very frustrating as West Brom were there for the taking and had we shown more in the final third we would have got a win I thought. The decision to take off Tarabat when we were losing was bizarre as he was the only one creating anything. Once again Mackie showed that if he does't score in a game then he offers very little to the side. Hill was superb and read the game brilliantly. Zamora should have put at least one of his chances away.

For me the fat lady has got out the microphone and she's about to play! I really felt we needed something from this game to have a chance.

Now we have to beat Spurs which is going to be very tough. The **** game I really cannot see us getting anything from. The season we went down from the Prem last time we actually drew there so you never know, but I really cannot see it. Stoke at home is a must win. If we lose that, then we will go down. Man City, not a chance in hell! The best record in the league at home against a side who cannot win away. My feeling is that we will huff and puff to the end at Man City where we will lose and results go against us and we go down.

And when we do, we will only have ourselves to blame. And a game like yesterday shows why.
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.

      Make you right Dave.

Many on here seem to think we'll be ok, personally I'm worried for us now more for the fact its not in our hands anymore with Wigan having a game in hand & Bolton having 2.

Taarabt substitution was odd, he can have a quite game like nearly all did yesterday & then pull a defence splitting ball out of the bag, would of kept him on for that reason alone &taken Mackie off.

Some will say we are being negative, personally I'm being realistic. Spurs, the s cum & City are massively hard games & Stoke is no given.

I stand by what I said yesterday in that the only way we'll stay up is by others being worse than us & that's it.

Good to see you yesterday mate albeit in the p!sser!

Ha ha, always good to see you mate!

Bolton's 2 games in hand are Villa and Spurs. I can see them getting out of it though. It's out of our hands now. We're probably gonna end up on 35 points which just won't be enough.

It's not being negative, it's being realistic. It's amazing how many fans we have who think we're gonna go to the **** and City and win! We can't win away and we're expected to go to these clubs and get 3 points. Not a chance in hell!

we did not get a real shot on goal that looked like going in....
derry straight in to a already strong looking midfield for "holding players" like diakite and barton...room for 2 not 3...it then weakened our attacking options.
from replays kenny got a hand to shot and, dorrans was not closed down at all, all round we should have stopped it.

Agree looked an odd decision not to include Buz but some posters (not you Hammersmith) have been too quick to condemn Hughes for it. Maybe Buz looked off the pace in training, maybe he was knackered, maybe he had a knock, maybe Derry looked rested and sharp (fully accept he played poorly in the match). Maybe Hughes wanted to save Buz for Spurs. I don't know, I'm not the manager, but maybe we should give him a bit of trust.

A good assessment of the game(as I see it), but I disagree with you regarding you have us Relegated .
Mind you, It could be that one win and a couple of draws can save our season.
PS.I can see us take at least one point at Itihad stadium.

Last night it looked like the whole team was knackered from start to finish.
                  Unbelivable.
But it could be that they were very nervous, youŽll never know.
Hence, it was not a wise move from Hughes to flog the game as a must win game officially.
Only my take at it, though.

zamora is not an out and out scorer imo
we needed one today....at least we created some play and were not over run.
                    there's hope, we're still "safe"
OURS TO MESS UP, i suppose..

i thought buzz looked completely shot at the end of the swans game. so whilst disappointing he didn't start vs wba, it didn't surprise me too much, he really did look knackered in the last 15 or so mins vs the swans and perhaps it was in hughes' thinking to rest him to make sure he was fully operational for the game vs spuds. if that is the case, then his omission vs wba would make some sense. i guess we shall see!
