If we'd have lost like we ought to have done to Liverpool but won yesterday people would be having a completely different spin on things - we'd have won two games in a week, we'd be on a roll, the great escape is on etc. But the points tally would be the same. All about perspective.

Do also remember that Cisse will give us far more firepower upfront from on!

Looks like the stage is now set for the return of Cisse - to fire in the goals against Spurs, Stoke and Chelsea that keep us up.

No we don't why is the assumption everyone around us is suddenly going to start picking up loads of points.

Well we now have to depend on wigan and bolton to lose games to take the buden off us needing to win at Chelsea and Man City.

Wigan have hit form and should had beaten Chelsea they were unlucky. Bolton also have an easier run in with teams that nothing to play for.

I can't see us getting results at Chelsea and Man City. But I can 6 pts with Spurs and Stoke although they are tough games :-S It may go to goal difference.

Maybe if you're a betting man, but no we can't assume it of course.

It's always preferable to be the master of your own destiny though.

You say we will depend on wigan and bolton like they are in a relegaton scrap for no good reason. We are all depending on other teams results, thats why we are where we are. Did you really expect us to go on a run and break the 40pt mark or something.

When you are in a relegation scrap it is never entirely in your hands. I'm surprised that anyone should be surprised by that. As W12 said it was always going to be tight but Bolton and Wigan are not going to win every game. We don't HAVE to beat Spurs and Stoke, still less get an extra draw as well. One win against Spurs and we might well be in the driving seat.

Since the Pool game we have been getting better n better apart from the Sunderland game the team is gelling. Its a big shame with Cisse cos if he was playing we wouldn't be in our position imo. Now he is back its gonna give the team a big boost and get the pressure off Bobby getting the goals and leave him to do what does best..holding the ball up and laying off. At Brom it really showed that when playing as a lone striker he had too many marking him. With Cisse the defence will be split and leaving room for others. I am looking forward to the Spuds game big time cos i really feel we are gonna get 3 points from them.

On the thread in question it also points to the rise of new posters coming from here to there, i infact have done the reverse, thinking it may have improved things around here, how wrong was i.

It's as if you're putting Wigan and Bolton in the same bracket as Barca chasing down Real.

Since the run in say March Wigan won 3, drawn 2 and lost 2, good but not the invincables, they managed to lose to Swansea at home.

If Wigan and bolton do somehow manage to go on a run without dropping a single point then I for one won't shed a tear for us going down as it we would clearly deserve it. At least if those teams did go on such a run then we would all know our downfall wasn't due to dodgy substitutions, or playing players in wrong position, too much tweeting, bus stops, tango and cash etc but because we were sh::: and a miracle occurred in Bolton and Wigan turning into brazil 1970 with maradona and gazza.

Wigans next three games are against probably the 3 inform teams in the premiership outside Manchester.

If we have to get points away at Chelsea and Manchester then so be it.

We are still in it and I wouldnt change our position out of the bottom 5.

There's a few straw-clutchers on this thread, and fair enough if that's how they mentally deal with what is a stressful situation for all of us.

However, it is certainly not inconceivable that we could have gone on a winning streak and pulled ourselves out of this predicament (plenty of examples of that), but the fact is we didn't. But to then trot out the cliche "it was always going to be this way" just smacks of being wise after the event - an easy thing to do as we all know.

The truth is what Mark Hughes says - there'll be plenty of shocks, twists and turns along the way.

Form so often goes out the window and results can become almost impossible to predict no matter how 'expert' some like to think they are. But that's what makes it all so exciting and compelling (as well as nerve-wracking!) and that's why we all love it so much.
