  • Vocal Support needs improving!

Infrequent poster, but wanted to get my opinion across to fellow rangers. We're becoming boring with our singing, not saying we need singing lessons or anything but singing virtually the same song for Mackie, Barton and Zamora is pretty embarrassing. Saw an attempt at a song for Barton to the tune of no one likes us which was quite good. Would also like to 'my only rangers' and 'marching down the uxbridge rd' song more often, proper football songs not these reading like 'chants'

Singing and atmosphere has been spot on of late, imo.

Do you post on LFW as W7ranger by the way ?

Agree that the intent and noise is there, but the drummer knocking out some boring repetition and us shouting hoops is rubbish. I know we don't have a 'song' like ynwa or blowing bubbles, but when you hear fans singing proper songs not short chants it makes for a better atmosphere. And no mate thats not me i'm a different ranger from Hanwell.

        That`s a drummer is it ?.

You`re right though mate, it would be nice to have something original, that don`t last a couple of lines, and or fades out rather quickly.Last season`s chanting for me was the best, as we actually had something to sing about especially near the end.

We need to sing wayy more imo, like last season we were amazing! Maybe top of 'we're top of the league' of our own mini league down at the bottom?

Its an age old problem with us , now the lower loft is a family stand , id like to see everyone who wants to sing move to the other end of the Ellerslie , by the away fans , and that would deffinately improve atmosphere imo.
Anyone who stood in the Paddock by the away lot in the 80s would vouch for this, im sure

Yeah the Ellerslie is where all the noise is at! Lower loft used to be great for atmosphere, but yeah it's a family stand now.

                going right back

going right back to 67 mobs used to use loud songs to terrorise opposition, but then in 82 mobs started dropping the singing because it told the old bill where they were

a new oder was built based on secrecacy, and it becames not cool to chant
so thats where the probs lie

but now the whole hooligan scene is over but areas where hoolies were recruited from are still not going to sing for fear of being called barmies or shirts or scarfers

so you need to get the geezers from ladbroke grove, west bourne park, northolt, ealing, harrow road, acton ,shepards bush etc to sit in the ellerslie road stand

but not to sit in the x block but build on the loftus road side, then over the next three or four seasons the ellerslie should get better and better but it will take time, but you are right .............WEST SEVEN we need to build up our
singing we need new songs,we need a sense of unity,

Last season , it could of been Bristol City , sang "we allways believe" instead of "Were top of the league"
Obviously that means you can sing it forever. But especially appropriate for our situation now.

Ted - I am glad you are a poet and not a detective.

Problem is really not helped by family stand location. Having said that I think the atmopsphere has been incredible at times recently. The problem is it is so patchy. The games tend to go from silent to very noisy with little in between.

Our support really seem to react to the players "having a go" more than us trying to gee them up when they appear not to be.

Agree some of the old songs would be better morre often.

Notice we are now trying to copy Spurs too....

I know and it pisses me off when we sing it like that, sounds shite. Why FFs? It was ok how we used to sing it.
I do like the 'we allways believe' idea though.
