Revert to 4-4-2 with Cisse partnering BZ or HH.
We have the ability and confidence to adapt IMO and Cisse's goal threat will make it impossible to leave him out of the starting 11, especially as he will be even more determined. He had forged a very promising partnership with Zamora too.

a little worried to take away that protection by going 4-4-2. Even down to 10 at Man U and playing a rearguard action they still struggled to get through us.

How would it be a 4-4-1-1? Who is the 1 just behind the striker? The two wide players - Mackie and Taarabt - were clearly more advanced than any of the midfield three.
I don't even think 4231 describes it correctly, as the 3 CMs rotated so much. 433 I reckon, obviously switching back to a 451 without the ball.
